While a film director complains about the writing block he is suffering, a coffee shop waitress promises a good story if she's paid for it. So, she begins to tell the story of Romance Joe, who she met on the night he was planning to commit suicide. Romance Joe told her all about his unrequited first love. After the conversation, he decides that life is worth living again and plans to revisit his hometown.
