Repo Men
Wow amazing knife-work. Can't wait to see this on the big screen!

both good
Repo! was good, the protagonist was a badass and the story was good the atmosphere was awesome, but some people get hung up on the music. I didnt like some of the songs but when there are virtualy no spoken words, its hard to make every song a chart topper while still getting across the story.

I think there are far worse things to copy. plus jude law is awesome anyway. and any way at least its not a direct remake only two years after the original starring chris rock, Martin Lawrence, and Tracy Morgan, taking every punchline and making them black jokes... yeah death at a funeral. what a travisty.

really
Plot of Repo!the genetic opera: One Main character Repos orgns for a living, turns against the company he works for. Company wants to kill him. Musical

Plot of Repo Men: One main character Repos organs for a living, turns against company since he got a new heart from them. People want to kill him. Non-Musical

There are minor details that are different between the two but the general plot is mainly the same. Could the movie producers been more original..yes. But they weren't .

Research is your friend
Dudes, really? REPO MEN is based on a novel by Eric Garcia, which in turn is based on his own short story written in 1997. This is not a ripoff of The Genetic Opera!

Research is your friend, before you start throwing around accusations.

Dammitdammitdammit
Okay as if a Big Hollywood Oldboy remake wasn't enough now THIS drivel. Awesome. more mindless crap for the masses. yay. cool. I've watched Repo! like maybe 15 times and (obviously) loved every minute of it. Whilst I can see the logic of remaking a successful movie so that it is more palatable (Read: Less dialogue, More "visually stunning") to the general populace, I just hope to god Bousman is getting something for Universal ripping off his creativity and original work. Regardless of whether you like the musical or not I think/hope you'd agree that one should be compensated for the use of one's ideas.

Similar
The general premise is very similar to Minority Report, i.e. suddenly being hunted by the people you used to hunt with.

awesome!
this movie looks awesome! i cant wait for it to come out!

Ignorant Viewers
No offense to you people but Repo! was a really well done Rock Opera. There is a HUGE difference between a musicial and a Rock Opera. Its like saying James Bond and Indiana Jones are one and the same.

Not saying this film looks bad either. The premise is quite badass. I don't know how one can say a premise on reposessing implants is a stupid idea. I actually think its quite genius.

Anyways, cool trailer.

CopOut
Suprisingly kick ass. Can't Wait
by doggonahogg | December 24, 2009, 2:54PM
Huh
I dunno. I love Law and Whittaker and the idea of them together in an action movie is cool. But the story seems kinda meh and the trailer didn't excite me very much. Wait and see, I guess.

Calm Down
@ Shiloh, Calm down. The genetic opera was lame sauce with bad music. This looks intense and cool. Liev is the ****.
by Hairyman | December 24, 2009, 5:25AM
LOL
I have seen this story a thousand times. "The best goes against the system." "The system goes against the best." Minority Report/Equilibrium to name 2 off the top of my head. I am still going to see it though. Just not original.
by Movie master | December 24, 2009, 3:41AM
looks good
sorry i dont pay attention to musicals lol lol lol but besides that i found this for a movie an original idea as repo main characters though some parts of the plot are the same eg best friend turned main antagonist. Oh well looks good

Repo
Boycott this plagiaristic bull****! God there's no ****ing originality left!! Darren Lynn Bousman whent to Universal Studios with the Repo! script and they said 'no' then once they saw how popular it became they were like 'oh ****! we ****ed up. So we're gonna steal your idea.' **** YOU HOLLYWOOD!
by Aaron | December 23, 2009, 10:29PM
what?
Repo! was a great movie what is wrong with you people?
by cavemanweston | December 23, 2009, 8:41PM
WOW.
There was this terribly ****ty musical that came out a year or so ago called, "Repo:the Genetic Opera", and this seems exactly like that...It was a dumb idea then and still is a dumb idea now.
by Sylentwolf | December 23, 2009, 4:58PM
Sci-Fi on the Rise, Again...
I Love Sci-Fi. I can't wait for this one to go On-Sale as a combo-pack with 'Surrogates'. Really!! It's-About-Time Jude Law gets down & dirty, and 'Road To Perdition' (Starring Tom Hanks) doesn't count.
Forest Whitaker makes a good partner. Jude Law with Clive Owen, Johnny Depp, Gerard Butler, Don Cheadle, Viggo Mortensen or maybe even Colin Farrell could have made a good pair.

I just might see this before Iron Man 2.
by Newton | December 23, 2009, 4:50PM
sigh...
been there seen that... but I'll support any movie with Forest.
by butterfly8811 | December 23, 2009, 3:53PM
what a min...
Is this just stealing from the musical that came out before that was called repo the genetic opera? Not saying that movie was any good but this movie looks like the same kinda story line...
by cloud720 | December 23, 2009, 3:32PM
Musical
When the creators wanted to make that movie with paris hilton they shopped the idea around, They came to this studio and the studio told them they liked the idea but they cant sell a musical. the creators left and went on to make their musical elsewhere. This studio said **** it and made this movie anyway. They stole they idea but its legal. If you want a better explnation Google is your freind.

Anyway this movie looks bad ass. I for one am glad the idea was wasted by only using it in the musical.
by evuki | December 23, 2009, 1:48PM
whoa
I never though Jude Law could be so bad-ass. This movie looks great !
by Poot | December 23, 2009, 1:40PM
Repo
I remember the trailer for that, this looks like 20 000 times cooler.
by Buecks | December 23, 2009, 1:16PM
LMAO
Was this not a very bloody, very mindless, gothic musical named Repo! last year?
