Cannot WaitThis movie looks great! I am a huge Alien fan and this looks like it could lead right in to the alien franchise. Ridley Scott you are doing a great job!

PrequelThis is very definitely a prequel.... How far in advance of Alien has not been stated but it is a prequel.

Twat !!!I know it's a prequel bjon86 i have followed alomost ever blog, rumour and web page that has to do with Prometheus since it was first announced. Ridley Scott has stated that the original version of the Alien will not be shown as that version will no have evolved by then, but there will be Aliens in another form. Next time don't you assume that you know what other are talking about.
On other thing did anybody notice at 32sec on the table that slides out is that a space jockey head.

Wow!!!!I really like the look of this. I agree with Apollo4 on this one. I too feel this is set in another location. Lol that ewok tv moviecrap was as bad as that holiday special.

geezApollo, how about you not worry so much about how other people are labeling the film? I've never seen anyone so fanatical about this sort of thing.

TrunTrun. Ok, sure "remake" by definition - using source material from another movie. Apes in power and humans beneath them, smart human rises against them, that's it. Characters, mission and story were completely different. Burton used the term “re-imagine” for that reason. Ewoks Adventures, as example, were not sequels nor prequels to Star Wars, they were in fact "Same Universe" Ridley is not remaking his 1979 ALIEN, and I'm not sold on the term prequel just yet. Ridley himself says no to pre and sequel and uses the term "same universe". Prometheus may be what DS9 was to ST next generation. I for one, do not believe that they are the same derelict ship or Jockey from ALIEN from what I see in the trailer. But Trun, I digress, the issue is ALIEN/Prometheus and would love to continue this in a different arena, not to cloud the Prometheus post here for others. I think you can click on my user name and send messages directly. Ultimately nether one us will know for another 8 months.

wrong@Apollo4 - I don't think you understand the definition of "remake." Burton's "Planet of the Apes" WAS a remake. Burton himself referred to it as a remake as did everyone in the cast and crew. The fact that it wasn't connected to the previous films has nothing to do with it. Brian De Palma's "Scarface" (1983) didn't have anything to do with the original 1932 "Scarface" either but it was a contemporary remake of that film.
Promethues precedes the events of "Alien." By definition, that's a prequel.

OK...my 2 centsAlright, here is my 2 cents. Its not a prequel nor a sequel. As Ripley said "same universe". I want you all to think. Tim Burtons Planet of the Aps. That was NOT a remake nor sequel. It had nothing to do with the Hestons APE movies. Know I have watch this trailer over and over to the point my wife already annoyed. Is that a Space Jockey? Yes. Is that an ALIEN transport ship? Yes. Are they same ones that crashed from ALIEN? No. The Jockey's cockpit and room is different, the cargo is different. People its an alien race that have space ship tech....there's probebly more than one. We have 12 aircraft carriers, they all look the same. Cargo Tankers all look the same. As I said before, Ridley has no ties to the other movies AND DOES NOT HAVE TO FOLLOW THERE CANON. I love ALIENS, but that belongs to James, and I'm not going to discuss the others. Same Universe, before Ripley or after "Resurrection". I wont know until the end credits like hidden"easter egg" end credits. Just my 2 cents.

Prequel to AlienThis is a PREQUEL to Alien. There won't be any reference or tie-in to Alien until very late in the movie, so SLPSTRM14, you don't have to worry about what the aliens will look like, because chances are, you won't see a lot of them or possibly any of them. Best not to assume else you may come out of the theater unhappy.

yesLove it. Remember folks, Ridley did ALIEN not ALIENS, or 3, 4 nor the AVPS. He had no involvement with those. This could be a prequel or sequel to HIS ALIEN movie and not recognize the canon of the the other movies. Just keep that in mind

Looking GoodYep agree with snotpuss needed to see a longer trailer, but i do like what i see.
The Alien franchise has been one of my favourite sine seeing the original in the theater many years ago.
The one thing i hope is that they haven't done all the Aliens in CGI (unless they look realy good) i still thing that the actors in suits have always looked great through out the franchise.

PrometheusThis is obviously connected to the advanced race of aliens that were transporting the parasite aliens that the "Alien" series is about. There may be little to no connection to the movie "Alien" other than the ship those parasite aliens were found in.

AlienSo...for only having "strands of DNA" from the Alien series there are at least 5 direct references to Alien in this one minute trailer...
