Girlfriend Feature Trailer (2011)

Feature trailer for Girlfriend, that is near identical to the first trailer.

Writer / Director Justin Lerner’s first feature film skillfully sets a traditional theme – a relationship between two people that seem an unlikely match – within unconventional circumstances. The result is Girlfriend, a gentle yet complex exploration of the nature of love and human compassion. Evan (Evan Sneider) is a young man with Down Syndrome who lives with his mother Celeste (Amanda Plummer) in a poor, working-class town hard hit by the recent recession. When Evan unexpectedly comes into a large amount of money, he decides to use it to pursue Candy (Shannon Woodward, TV's Raising Hope), a local girl that he’s been in love with since high school. Candy is now a single parent with huge debts, who cannot shake the attentions of her volatile ex-boyfriend, Russ (Jackson Rathbone). Knowing Evan’s intentions are to have a relationship with her but unsure if she can ever fully return his love, Candy nevertheless accepts Evan’s offer of financial help. When Russ catches on to Candy and Evan’s relationship, all three of them enter an intricate web of violent emotions, expectations and secrets.
