A high-concept action thriller set in the near future, a time when mind-control technology has taken society by storm. Humans control other humans in a mass-scale, multiplayer online game. Reclusive billionaire Ken Castle (Michael C. Hall) has created the controversial form of entertainment, “Slayers,” a hugely popular game that allows millions to act out their innermost fantasies and desires - online - in front of a global audience. Gaming has evolved into a terrifying new dimension… mind control… mind manipulation… people playing people!

Gamer movie reviews
The Gamer movie reviews apparently aren\'t that good – but then again, it isn\'t the most original plot, although it DOES have an interesting twist. A lot of the negative Gamer movie reviews are from people that watched it, other than critics. The film is about a program in which real life people play a game called \"Slayers,\" in which they have control of a real life convict who does what they want. Whoever lives is pardoned. The film stars Gerard Butler and Michael C. Hall, who has had a recent run of success with the Showtime program, Dexter. If theGamer movie reviews are accurate, it may not be worth a payday loan to see it.

not a flop
I don\'t see this being a flop. It\'ll make enough to pay for itself, and it\'ll be big on DVD

the running man on acid
The trailer reminds me of the 80s movie The running man but with a nice little twist, looks like it could be a good action movie, hopefully not as OTT as Crank

What?
Does anyone else get this? If he is controlled by a person, then what is the point of him having a backstory? Is he the main character or what? Im calling it right now: FLOP

last action hero?
this movie looks very badass. at 1:55 it looks like that advertisement for Jack Slater 4 in 'last action hero'.
by Hairyman | May 13, 2009, 8:13AM
Well..
I have to say that I will see this, but that is the 80s B-Action movie junkie talking. I think this looks terrible. Didn't they already re-make Running Man, The Condemned & Death Race? Why is Dexter in this? He will never be a movie star, he is a TV star.

Agonising
Looks kinda cool, lots of shooting, lots of explosions but the story seems embarrasingly similar to Death Race.... Also It will probably spark another agonising debate about violence in computer games, one more intense than the one happening in Germany right now

Impressed
I think this looks awesome. Good fx and the way these directors use the camera it should be a fun movie. Cool action Gerard Butler grunting lines and guns...... Awesome

Deathrace?
no it's The Running Man with mind control done up for 2009.
by deirdre | May 10, 2009, 3:19PM
.
So Deathrace, but with mind control instead of racing?

Whatev. I'll still see it.
