this actualy does look good, and im a dark shadows fan in both the original and remake series.

Another great Depp/burton film,but where is Hellena B?

is it just me or does Eva Green with all that makeup and the expressions she was making in the trailer made her look a lot like Anne Hathaway.

The atrocity of reimagining Willy Wonka into a poor and downright humorless family film was a total mistake on both Tim Burton and the production company. You just don’t mess with Gene Wilder, plain and simple; however, reimaging a gothic soap opera from 1966 into a modern dark-comedy really doesn’t seem like an awful idea. Hopefully, the nostalgia and excitement I am feeling doesn’t come back to bite me in the ass. I think everyone has their doubts walking into a Tim Burton movie. LOL

I have always been a movie fanatic and am also a huge fan of Tim Burton's work and Johnny Depp as well. I always try to see every side of why a movie was created the way it was. Bottom line is...is every movie that was adapted from a book, tv show, etc, is not always going to be the exact same as the original...now how much fun would that be?? I believe it would be pretty dull because you would always know what is going to happen, etc. The directors and actors always have to put their own creativity and spin on what they create. How would it make them as individuals in the dog eat dog world of directing if they didn't? From the trailer, I think the movie looks great! It stays true to what Dark Shadows intended with the true vampires not being seen in mirrors, the sotryline, etc. There is nothing wrong with making something more humorous or shedding a different light. Give Tim a break all, he is a great director who has always had this quirkiness and great side to all of his creations. After all, Dark Shadows was just a tv show and anyone has the right to re-create it. I'm sure if the makers of Dark Shadows didn't approve, it would have never been made, right? Right!
Just relax a bit. And those of you that say, 'Well I won't be seeing it!" Well believe me, it won't be hurting them or the movie if you don't see it...there will be thousands of us Burton and Depp fans that will truly be there!

The camp and melodrama of Dark Shadows is what made it Dark Shadows. Frankly, im sick of Tim Burton making Tim Burton movies. He ruined what could have been a spooky but fun movie. SImple as that.

It's like Austin Powers mixed with Addams Family.......

what on EARTH have you done to Dark Shadows, Mr.Burton?
Okay, so first of all, I did NOT watch Dark Shadows as a kid (WAY before my time).
My mum however did watch it every day after she came home from school. So naturally one of our aunts had the whole collection on dvd and lent it to me to watch.
It's a great little show, I especially loved Jonathan Frid and David Selby as Quentin (god, he was so incredibly hot!)
But lest it be forgotten, this was classified as a gothic soap opera. I would add that the whole mystery, paranormal aspect added on to my love of this show.
But NEVER was there any part of the show that lowered itself to cliched comedy, campy modern referneces that all those 'hip modern teens would get', and vulgar innuendos.
Sorry Mr.Burton, but when you decimated all the childlike magic and wonder of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, I was ready to forgive and forget.
For this, however, I cannot forgive you.
This looks atrociously unfunny and I, as well as thousands of others I'm sure, will not being seeing it.

It seemed like a serious movie up until the whole "It's 1972" bit, after that it just went to comedic moment after another. Tim Burton has really outdone himself my making Johnny similar yet different from his other characters in their past duo's. This looks like a fun time and I feel fortunate in being the first commentator. Good so far.
