Joining the military can be a hard transition. Coming home and adjusting to civilian life after your service can sometimes be even harder. Serving in the U.S. Army changed the life of Matthew Marks, a young man recruited at the age of eighteen by Sergeant Clay Usie and one of the people profiled in the documentary film The Recruiter.
Made one year after he joined up, Matt reflects on his time in Iraq and analyzes whether or not he could have changed any of the outcomes during his tour. Now, Matt follows in the footsteps of Sergeant Usie as a recruiter in the hopes of creating a home in Louisiana for his family and works to convince other young Americans about the benefits of enlisting in the U.S. Army.
