The Meddler follows Marnie Minervini (Susan Sarandon), recent widow and eternal optimist, as she moves from New Jersey to Los Angeles to be closer to her daughter (Rose Byrne). Armed with an iPhone and a full bank account, Marnie sets out to make friends, find her purpose, and possibly open up to someone new.

The Meddler will just mark Director Lorene Scafaria's only second feature film. Her first film was Seeking a Friend for the End of the World. Both of her films got their starts in Film Festival circuit. Seeking a Friend for the End of the World started at the Los Angeles Film Festival and was later picked up by Focus Features while The Meddler began at Toronto International Film Festival and was picked up by Sony Pictures Classics.
