The Hitman's Bodyguard Red Band Trailer (2017)
Red Band Trailer for The Hitman's Bodyguard.
The world’s top protection agent [Ryan Reynolds] is called upon to guard the life of his mortal enemy, one of the world’s most notorious hitmen [Samuel L. Jackson]. The relentless bodyguard and manipulative assassin have been on the opposite end of the bullet for years and are thrown together for a wildly outrageous 24 hours. During their raucous and hilarious adventure from England to the Hague, they encounter high-speed car chases, outlandish boat escapades and a merciless Eastern European dictator [Gary Oldman] who is out for blood. Salma Hayek joins the mayhem as Jackson’s equally notorious wife.
Since both Ryan Reynold's and Samuel L. Jackson have seen box office magic come from R-rated actioners, it makes a ton of sense for the duo to team up for The Hitman's Bodyguard. And, as it turns out, the duo have worked together before. Scratching your head on what? Don't worry if you can't remember seeing their faces share the silver screen. As that wasn't the case. Instead, they shared the recording studio for the CG-animation Turbo.
A video sequence from the film was captured by spectators who thought they were watching a real car chase gone out of control. Made for some media headache for sure. Whether the film changed that how that scene fits into the story, since now everybody knows the outcome, is yet to be known.
This looks awesome. I found myself laughing repeatedly. Not only does Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson make a helluva team, but they also find ways to spoof on one another. Such as the fact that Ryan Reynolds thinks that Jackson has single-handedly killed the word "mother f*cker". When as we know, the actor has nearly revolutionized the phrase. Awesome.
And playing Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You", as a nod to the fact that this film couldn't be more different than Kevin Costner's The Bodyguard, is pure genius. Sure, that film came out over twenty years ago, but we all remember!
And, how can the trailer possibly top itself? Well, by throwing Ryan Reynolds through a car windshield. Seat belt rule? Classic!
