The Creator of the Jungle (2014) Trailer
Trailer for The Creator of the Jungle.
Close to the Catalonian village of Argelaguer, in a forest by the highway, is a jungle paradise. If you were to venture inside, you’d find a fantastical labyrinth of tree houses, mazes and waterfalls, all hand built over 45 years by an eccentric hermit named Garrell. The fabricated paradise is also the backdrop for Garrell’s Tarzan adventure films, in which he stars as Tarzan, king of his own jungle, fighting against intruders. But as fiction gives way to reality and modernization, Garrell is forced by officials to tear his structures down, only to rebuild them again. It’s not until years later, when an American curator captures the architectural creations on film, that the true nature of Garrell’s brilliance is revealed. Through this rare and incredible collection of homemade Tarzan films, found footage and documentation from the American curator, filmmaker Jordi Morató expertly edits a magical and wondrous journey into the brilliant and marvelous world and mind of Garrell.
