A young Air Force drone pilot struggles to cope with the daily commute between his suburban family life in America and the war he fights by remote control.
AMERICAN FILM INSTITUTE presents UNMANNED, an AFI thesis short film. Rick Clayfield is a young Air Force drone pilot, operating airstrikes in Afghani¬stan remotely from a base in America, and returning each day to his wife and toddler son. Trained on video games and far from harms way, Rick treats killing insurgents on his screen like getting a high score until his team makes a lethal mistake. Now, with growing stress at war and pressures at home, will he be able to continue as a cubicle warrior and remain detached from the human cost of remote control warfare?
