The contentment of community turns upside down as an American film crew invades its serenity. Seduction, greed, and betrayal devastates them all.
ALYA FILMS and Ziad H Hamzeh proudly present a Ridha Al Behi film. Always Brando is a feature film written and directed by Tunisian filmmaker Ridha Behi. The film weaves a story of innocence lost, of love abandoned and of dreams shattered. The contentment of the small community in this remote Tunisian village turns upside down as an American film crew invades its serenity. Seduction, greed, and betrayal devastate the innocence. Anis, a young Tunisian with great resemblance to young Marlin Brando is seduced by the American actor James who showers the young man with promises of stardom and fame. False dreams evoked, Anis begins a quest to reach the impossible dream in making it big in Hollywood. In March 2004, at Brandos house on Mulholland Drive, Ridha sat with Marlon Brando telling him of his desire to make the film. Brando, panting and sick, but lucid, tender and biting at a time listened intently and agreed. Every other day for the following two weeks, Brando and Ridha discussed the project in details. Brando became very actively involved in the project. His enthusiasm for the project fueled his soul to the point that he would suggest adding certain scenes or deleting others, even suggesting the actors to cast.June 30, Brando dies. Ridhas project, Brandos potentially last film appearance, is deeply shaken, threatened and finally halted. Ridha received letters from around the world supporting him and asking him not to give up, and to continue his perseverance. For the past few years since Brandos death, Ridha has reworked, rewritten, and re-ignited his story in honor of his idle Brando. In his unique style, Ridha chose to combine documentary and narrative footage to tell his story most effectively.
