Split Feature Trailer (2017)

Feature Trailer for Split.

Kevin, a man with at least 23 different personalities, is compelled to abduct three teenage girls. As they are held captive, a final personality - "The Beast" - begins to materialize.

James McAvoy is not a stranger to playing a character with multiple personalities. He previously played someone suffering from multiple personality disorder in the film Filth. Another similarity between Filth and Split is that in both films he also cross dresses as a woman.

We have yet to see "The Beast", his final personality, which I think will ruin it for me. I love how this film plays as a psychological thriller and I think that films you can picture as realistic end up being scarier. As I watch this trailer I can picture a crazy person with 23 different personalities actually abducting girls, like this is something that could happen in the real world. But then, towards the end of film/trailer I know it is going to take a turn towards the supernatural with "the beast" and I think that is where M. Night Shyamalan is going to lose me. After watching the trailer I thought to myself, "I hope this film does not end like Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Although, I must point out that actress Anya Taylor-Joy confirmed in an interview that no supernatural elements are present in the film. Still "feels" like it.

I am still leaning towards the this film will be good side. The highlight so far has to be James McAvoy's acting. He sure looks to nail all these different personalities and brings a great creep factor. I also like how the film plays like a psychological thriller, it looks to be more of a tense ride and not a scary horror ride.
