The trailer for the short Re-Wire.
Harley's life has been shaped by tragedy, addiction and abuse. Now in his late 30's and suffering from severe, chronic anxiety, Harley sees just one last chance to set his life on track. His psychiatrist, Maria Ferreira has referred him to a brilliant but unconventional neuroscientist whose experimental machinery may be Harley's path to freedom.
Dr. Adrian Vanuz, revered as much as criticized, has developed a unique computer-to-brain device that forces the brain to release BDNF - a neuro modulator that turns on the nucleus basalis and enables quick learning. By also manipulating the patient's brain with electromagnetic fields, Vanuz's device is able to guide and shape the new neuronal connections being made.
Vanuz claims the re-wiring device has been used to successfully cure epileptic seizures as well as alzheimers. Although there are broader mental health implications to this, there are few studies to support it. Funding is sparse and difficult to attain for such vanguard experiments, and Vanuz's reputation has already been seriously marred by the death of one of his epileptic patients, whose mysterious death could never be directly linked to Vanuz or his machine.
Forced out of academia, Vanuz continues to advance his work under the radar of the public.
Desperate for real, lasting change, Harley seeks out the reclusive Vanuz, determined to get better, whether or not he is ready to see him. And at any risk....
