Proclaimed as “the thinking person's Dumbo” (Variety), Lisa Leeman's “ten-thousand-pound love story” thoughtfully documents the difficulty two longtime companions have when parting ways. After 16 years, circus ringleader David Balding has reluctantly decided to let Flora, the African elephant he's raised from infancy, retire and rejoin her own kind. However, it's not that easy for the monolithic pachyderm to shuffle off into the sunset. As the increasingly aggressive Flora is shunted between wildlife sanctuaries, a guilt-ridden Balding is left to wonder if he's done his “daughter” an incredible disservice.
