Set against the industrial landscape of old downtown Atlanta, Georgia, a scrawny 7th grader, Magellan Blatt, walks to and from middle school everyday with his popular, latch-key classmate, Tiana.
Their precarious friendship is jeopardized, however, when Magellan works up the tragic, foolhardy courage to ask her to the upcoming Spring Dance.
