Two Chinese children, Linsheng and Xinyuan, grow up in completely different economic circumstances, but both confront the same situation: family separation. Linsheng's impoverished farmer father raises his sons in Hunan, while mom works far from home. To secure a better future for Linsheng, dad sends him away to a public school through a charity project. Meanwhile, Xinyuan lives in Beijing and attends an expensive boarding school while her parents have jobs abroad. Both families want the best for their children and love them dearly, but the children feel abandoned and powerless. They act out as a means of getting the attention they crave. Look Love is a raw, disquieting look at two kids' lives through the trick mirror of failing family values and communism. Along the way, it reveals profound contradictions in Chinese society and provides a shattering portrait of family relations that increasingly revolve around money and spare none.
