Another lush, moving exploration of the Gypsy life by acclaimed filmmaker Tony Gatlif (Latcho Drom), Korkoro ("freedom") tells the story of a family of Gypsies that move into a small town under Vichy control in World War II France. Befriended by Theodore (Marc Lavoine), the town's veterinarian/mayor, and schoolteacher Mademoiselle Lundi, a secret member of the Resistance (Marie-Josée Croze - The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, Tell No One), they struggle to avoid a vicious fate under the Nazi regime. An affecting look at a culture that faces persecution to this day, the film is a plea for humanity towards all people who have been, or still are, deemed "undesirables."
