Trailer for the foreign drama Kabuli Kid, which screened at the 2009 Vancouver International Film Festival.

As cab driver Khaled (Hadji Gul) shuttles his fares around Kabul, the aftermath of war is clearly evident: functional traffic lights are at a premium, rubble abounds and military personnel are omnipresent. Khaled’s hardscrabble existence becomes further complicated when a passenger abandons her baby in the backseat of his taxi. Khaled’s efforts to reunite mother and son find him not only navigating Kabul’s chaotic streets but also Afghanistan’s infuriating bureaucracy and deeply entrenched customs.
