TrailerAddict streams trailers and clips to your browser and other electronic devices such as Chumby and PlayOn! Each video is compressed by hand (the site is completely moderated) and comes in two formats: Flash FLV and MP4. While many videos will have only one format available, a select amount will offer both.

TrailerAddict videos are streamed through a custom flash media player and, if you are having problems watching our trailers or can't see the player, you likely need to download the latest version of Flash; the TA player requires Flash 9. For more on this, you can check out our about page.

Below is information on the TrailerAddict user system and its current functions. Check back to see what new features the system has to offer.

One of the great mysteries of TrailerAddict: How do I register? To cut down on spam, we do not have a particular registration page. Instead, all one needs to do is comment on a trailer/clip or leave a caption on any given contest. Supply the information you'd like for your user account and our system will recognize that your account does not exist. You will then receive an activation email asking you to verify your email address; so be sure to put your correct email address.

Don't worry, we do not give away or sell any information we receive. This is mostly to prevent spam.


Didn't get your verification email? Unfortunately having the word 'Addict' in our name doesn't help us with spam filters. Therefore, if you are unable to find a verification email -- check your SPAM folder immediately -- feel free to write in from your supplied email account and we will manually activate you. Just mention activation in the subject or body and we'll get you up and running within a couple of hours.

Once done, you can now post comments and captions freely. Along with the ability to take advantage of other user features including those listed below.

Before we get to the features, we might as well discuss your User Rank. Every user is ranked amongst all the active users on TrailerAddict. Your ranking is decided by a number of factors including:

• How often you visit.
• Participation in discussions.
• How active you are across the site. (Hint: Take advantage of the features)
• Participation in contests. Bonuses are also given to winners.
• And other factors that we cannot discuss!

In short, we're looking for the biggest Trailer Addicts. While User Rank isn't all that important now, expect to soon see offers available only to high-ranked users.

When logged in, you will notice a couple added option at the top of the page including this little guy:



Any time you find a video that you'd like to save to your profile, just add it to your favorites. Click the button and you will not be taken from the page. To see all your favorites, just go to your profile and take a gander under the 'Favorite Videos' section. You can see all your saved favorites (go crazy) by clicking the More option.

At this point in time we do not allow users to delete any of their saved favorites, but that feature is coming soon.

Want to take a look at your profile? If you are not logged in, you first need to do so. Once successfully logged in, take a look at the top of the page and you will see a Profile button that looks something like this:



Click that and you will be taken to your profile. There you can find your User Rank, favorite videos, most watched videos and recent comments. The profile page also shows what you just watched and whether or not you are currently online. All users can see this information.

If you are tracking films, your profile will also show a cloud list of the film's you are tracking. But how do you track films?

Sometime you only want to keep up with the updates for a select amount of films and browsing around TrailerAddict all day just doesn't cut it. No problem! Any time you have find a film you'd like to track, look for this option (under the poster):



If the switch is set to 'Off', that means you are not currently tracking the film. Click the switch once and you will see it change to...



Now go to your profile and you should see the Tracking Films Cloud. Not only does this show you all the films you are tracking in order of theatrical release, but you can view Real Time Updates only the select films that you are tracking. Sound complicated? Here's an example:

Whether you are leaving comments for trailers or captions for contests, you can always find the available form at the bottom of the page.

The comments form also has a Tell-A-Friend option, just in case you think a particular video is worth showing to somebody else.
