The Fate of the Furious Feature Trailer (2017)

Feature trailer for The Fate of the Furious, starring Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham and Charlize Theron. To name a few.

On the heels of 2015’s Furious 7, one of the fastest movies to reach $1 billion worldwide in box-office history and the sixth-biggest global title of all time, comes the newest chapter in one of the most popular and enduring motion-picture serials of all time: The Fate of the Furious.

Now that Dom and Letty are on their honeymoon and Brian and Mia have retired from the game—and the rest of the crew has been exonerated—the globetrotting team has found a semblance of a normal life. But when a mysterious woman (Oscar® winner Charlize Theron) seduces Dom into the world of crime he can’t seem to escape and a betrayal of those closest to him, they will face trials that will test them as never before.

Just when one would think the franchise's ensemble couldn't get any larger, it has been suggested that we might also see the return of Agent Fuentes in this eighth installment. If you can't remember the character, she was played by Eva Mendes.

During the film's production, Dwayne Johnson made it publicly clear that he had beef with Vin Diesel. An odd feud, considering both these guys are known as gentle giants. While many publications have come to assume that the feud and in-fighting was nothing more than a publicity stunt for a future wrestling bout, the verdict remains unclear. Especially since it has been reported from the set that the hostilities between Johnson and Diesel were real, to the point where Johnson would refuse to show up to set and Diesel responding by lowering his screen time in this Fast & Furious installment.

Definitely feels real. Or these guys are really pushing the "publicity stunt" to another level.

The Fate of the Furious Feature Trailer

It's long, I'll give them that. The Fate of the Furious feature trailer clocks in at 190 seconds. Enough time to not only showcase more plot points, but brag about the stunts to be seen. The only drawback is sometimes a trailer can show far too much. So is that the case here?

Let's answer that question with a big, YES. Not only do we get to see ways that Cipher (Charlize Theron) uses smart-car technology to terrorize citizens, but I think we literally get to see her downfall, aka demise. What the crap? To take a step back, the smart-car terrorism might strike a nerve in realism. Especially since it was recently suggested, through Wikileaks, that people can be assassinated by the hijacking of their smart vehicle. Crazy, right?

The trailer even shows what looks to be the best of the film's action sequences. It smells a bit like desperation, which doesn't make a whole lot of sense considering how much that last installment raked in at the box office. But, then again, I thought Furious 7 as a story was pretty terrible.
