Thursday, November 19, 2009 9:20 PM | From /Film
Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo will be reprising their roles as Clark and Ellen Griswold from the National Lampoon's Vacation movies, but not for another big screen sequel (not yet, at least...). You might recall that last month we told you that New Line/Warner Bros had signed Wedding Crashers and Fred Claus director David Dobkin to produce and possibly direct a new film in the National Lampoon's Vacation series which would follow Rusty Griswold, the son of Clark Griswold, who is now a father in his own right and takes his family on a, you guessed it, road trip vacation. Although New Line/WB hopes to sign Chase and DAngelo to return as grandparents in the new film, no deals are in place. So if not the big screen, when, where and why? Details after the jump. The Griswolds will be reuniting insead for an advertising campaign to be launched during the 2010 ... Read Article

Luke Greenfield To Direct Something Borrowed

Friday, November 13, 2009 6:36 AM | From Cinema Blend
I understand that as a 20-something male I am not the target demographic, but is there any sub-genre more insulting than the wedding-centered romantic comedy? As Katey touched on earlier today with the trailer for Leap Year, reducing women to wedding-crazed nut jobs is not only stupid, but kind of insulting (even us menfolk can see that). Because of repeated success, however, we won't see the end of them any time soon, and now we have another one coming down ... Read Article

Rumor: Black Cat as Spider-Man 4 Villain and a New Female Lead?

Tuesday, November 10, 2009 4:52 AM | From FirstShowing.net
We're going to pump the brakes after that headline because there's a lot of rumor manure to sift through. Earlier today Mania reported a big rumor that Black Cat would be the new villain in Spider-Man 4, and that Rachel McAdams (of The Notebook and Wedding Crashers fame) was the frontrunner for the role. However, this seemed to be just another in a long line of ridiculous villain rumors, but then our friends at SlashFilm found a post in The Observer regarding actress/columnist Romola Garai, who revealed she had an audition for a role in Spider-Man 4. But is she auditioning for Black Cat or a supposed new female lead? Let's answer that second question first before we dig into this villain debacle. SlashFilm's apparent certainty on Sam Raimi looking for "a new female lead" is quite misleading and because of this misrepresentation, highly inaccurate. A new female lead fully implies ... Freeman to Get Old and Dirty

Monday, November 2, 2009 9:28 AM | From Latino Review
You've had your share of Grumpy Old Men, so now it's time for some Dirty Old Men. According to the latest from The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. has picked up a comedy spec by Josh Cagan and Greg Coolidge. With the working title Dirty Old Men, the spec already has Morgan Freeman attached to star and the studio is reportedly eyeing Jack Nicholson for the other lead role after the pair's successful 2007 film, The Bucket List. In the fine tradition of buddy comedies and sex comedies, Dirty Old Men will reportedly have a tone similar to Wedding Crashers and The 40-Year-Old Virgin, as Freeman plays the best friend and wingman to a lifelong playboy who only recently found true love. However, rather than embrace his friend's new relationship, Freeman's character would do anything to tear them apart -- which makes him a pretty bad wingman and friend, in my book.   Source: The Hollywood Reporter Read Article

Freeman back w/ Jack?

Monday, November 2, 2009 8:49 AM | From Joblo.Com
Warner Bros. has picked up the spec comedy script DIRTY OLD MEN with hopes of reuniting the BUCKET LIST team of Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson to star. As of now, only Freeman is attached to the film with Nicholson not yet committing (he is reportedly "aware" of the film). The script, written by Josh Cagan and Greg Coolidge, is described as a WEDDING CRASHERS type comedy about aging playboys, one of whom... Read More... Read Article

Morgan Freeman One of Dirty Old Men

Monday, November 2, 2009 12:00 AM | From CanMag.Com
Warner Bros. has purchased an untitled comedy, that is currently under the working title Dirty Old Men, and already has an idea on who it wants to star and direct.

Morgan Freeman Joins Dirty Old Men
Morgan Freeman has been attached to star, while Peter Segal is a strong option to direct. The comedy revolves around an aging playboy who finally meets the love of his life and his best friend and wingman for the past 40 years (Freeman) who does everything to break up the new couple. The tone is described as similar to Wedding Crashers and The 40-Year-Old Virgin.

If the stars align for Warner Bros, the studio might convince Jack Nicholson to reteam with Freeman on the project. So far no offer has been made, but we're told that Nicholson is definitely aware of the project and Freeman's involvement. Read Article

Cool Stuff: Zombie Wedding Cake

Thursday, October 22, 2009 1:42 AM | From /Film
If I ever get married, I would hope that my fiance would let me have a geek wedding cake as cool as this one (or, of course, the Back to the Future cake we've previously featured). Not only did this groom propose by creating a zombie movie, but the Seattle-based couple commissioned Mike's Amazing Cakes to create this very awesome zombie-themed red velvet wedding cake. "They made the Bride and Groom on top look like us down to the tux and dress, and the zombies matched our wedding party too!" I love how at the top of the cake the Bride and the Groom are fending zombies off with chainsaws, together. source: Flickr (via Neatorama) Cool Stuff is a daily feature of slashfilm.com.
