So here it is, finally, one of the trailers i have been waiting for awhile. With an epic cast combined with some outstanding visuals on a classic story, this is a remake that I am very impressed with. I have to say I was thinking this film would end of a lot like Troy but [...]

With The Boondock Saints 2: All Saints Day on the verge of hitting theaters (it opens next Friday), one of things that's continued to fascinate me is the story of how Troy Duffy was able to remake himself in the aftermath of The Boondock Saints and Overnight, the 2003 documentary that chronicled Duffy's rise and fall. Duffy was just a bartender when, in 1997, Harvey Weinstein agreed to purchase his Boondock Saints script for $300,000 and let him direct the movie with a budget of $15 million. However, as portrayed in the film, Duffy is an egomaniacal lout, obsessed with the heights of his talent and abusive to his friends. He goes on to lose his deal, his friends, and his Hollywood connections, although the massive success of The Boondock Saints on DVD has brought him to the point where a sequel, complete with theatrical release, is now possible. Here's ...
Exclusive: Boondock Saints Director Troy Duffy Reveals Details From His Next Script, The Good King
I had the opportunity today to speak with writer/director Troy Duffy, the man responsible for The Boondock Saints and the forthcoming The Boondock Saints 2: All Saints Day. My full interview with him, where we discuss his reaction to Overnight and some of the lessons he's learned since that film's release, will be available online later this week. In the meantime, hit the jump for some exclusive new plot details about the script he's going to try to make after Boondock Saints 2, entitled The Good King. Duffy described it as "markedly different" from Boondock Saints, a "period piece buddy comedy" whose comedic elements are as "dark as a starless night at the bottom of the ocean." Assuming this thing ever gets made, you can assume minor spoilers ahead (I guess?).
Here's a plot summary, straight from the man himself:
It is basically a tale from the mind of an inebriant. A ...
Donald Glover on Community
Wednesday, September 23, 2009 10:21 AM | From CanMag.Com
What happens to the high school jock when they get injured and lose their college scholarship? They end up at community college. Donald Glover plays that guy in Community, NBC’s new comedy about a study group at the local college. He plays Troy, and Troy is about to meet the Spanish teacher, Senor Chang.
Donald Glover Talks Community
“Well, he’s a little bit of a live wire, Senor Chang” Glover said when he attended the Paley Center for Media’s fall TV preview night. “Ken Jeong is a bit of a live wire but I think just as Troy gets in there, I think him and Bruce will have a bond. They really do. A lot of things, Ken will just point me out and just be like, ‘Yeah, I like that Troy.’”
Troy may still be too busy posturing to actually absorb Chang’s lesson, but he’ll try.
Interview: Troy Duffy
Thursday, September 3, 2009 11:21 PM | From IGN Movies
Ten years after the release of the original cult classic comes The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day, once again written and directed by Troy Duffy. The film, which opens theatrically October 30, is the continuation of Duffy's saga of the MacManus brothers, Murphy (Norman Reedus) and Connor (Sean Patrick Flanery). IGN Movies recently chatted on the phone with Duffy, who recalled the nearly decade-long struggle to bring the sequel to the screen.
How About a Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day Red-Band Trailer?
Yeah, I know there are those out there who feel ‘The Boondock Saints’ is “‘Pulp Fiction’ Lite” and Troy Duffy is a lucky asshole who burned his bridge before he even crossed it. Personally, I think the movie is quite cool and very kickass. This trailer for the follow-up comes to us today from IGN, and it looks to be even more of the same thing, and, for me, that’s a very good thing. And seriously, doesn’t Clifton Collins Jr. just make everything a little bit cooler?
Variety reports that former comic book artist Troy Nixey, currently directing the remake of Don't Be Afraid of the Dark for Miramax, has been signed by Phoenix Pictures (the outfit producing Scorsese's Shutter Island) to direct Simple Machines, based on his own script. I'll be up front about this right now: Troy is an exceptionally talented creator and could be a great new filmmaker, but he's also a good friend. That, coupled with the fact that my former editor (CHUD founder Nick Nunziata) is co-producing the film, means that my objectivity is pretty much out the window on this story. But I'll try to convince you that it's worth knowing about anyway, after the jump.
My enthusiasm for this really comes from a simpler place than knowing and liking the people responsible: it's an original fantasy story with sci-fi overtones. As the trade puts it, "Story centers on a reclusive young ...
