I understand that as a 20-something male I am not the target demographic, but is there any sub-genre more insulting than the wedding-centered romantic comedy? As Katey touched on earlier today with the trailer for Leap Year, reducing women to wedding-crazed nut jobs is not only stupid, but kind of insulting (even us menfolk can see that). Because of repeated success, however, we won't see the end of them any time soon, and now we have another one coming down ...
10 Things Not To Do on a First Date
Wednesday, November 11, 2009 1:40 AM | From SmakNews
First dates are the best. Ask the hot girl out to dinner, get to know her, enjoy her company, and at the end of the date hopefully get lucky and make plans for a second date. Oh and of course, for the couple that really hit it off, get a goodnight kiss, and perhaps for the real lucky guys, close th
Question: Should Women Pay on 1st Date? - Powder Room Talk
Thursday, October 22, 2009 5:28 AM | From SmakNews
Apparently 57% of us reach into our wallets on the first date. Ladies, what do you think? Should women pay on the 1st date?
If I ever get married, I would hope that my fiance would let me have a geek wedding cake as cool as this one (or, of course, the Back to the Future cake we've previously featured). Not only did this groom propose by creating a zombie movie, but the Seattle-based couple commissioned Mike's Amazing Cakes to create this very awesome zombie-themed red velvet wedding cake.
"They made the Bride and Groom on top look like us down to the tux and dress, and the zombies matched our wedding party too!"
I love how at the top of the cake the Bride and the Groom are fending zombies off with chainsaws, together.

Blu-ray Review: Monsoon Wedding (Criterion Collection)
Tuesday, October 20, 2009 2:42 AM | From RopeofSilicon
My experience with Mira Nair is limited at best. I did not enjoy Vanity Fair and The Namesake bored me beyond measure, but that's where my time watching her films ended prior to Criterion's latest Blu-ray release of Monsoon Wedding, a spectacular dramedy surrounding a Punjabi wedding, which instantly reminded me of Jonathan Demme's 2008 [...]
What I Watched, What You Watched: Installment #12
Sunday, October 11, 2009 1:28 AM | From RopeofSilicon
Okay, so I didn't watch only these two movies, but I have a few movies I am saving for actual reviews including the new Natural Born Killers Blu-ray and Mira Nair's Monsoon Wedding which hits Criterion Blu-ray on October 20. While Monsoon Wedding will be a traditional review, I hope to encourage some conversation when [...]
Kim Kardashian and Reggie Bush Rekindle Romance
Wednesday, September 30, 2009 8:00 AM | From Hollywood Chaos
Khloe Kardashian's quickie wedding must have rekindled old feelings between Kim Kardashian and Reggie Bush. Even though the two parted ways a couple of months ago, sources say the bootylicious gal has gone back to her NFL star boyfriend. Another wedding in the works? Spare us...
Jay Chandrasekhar Locked and Loaded for Shotgun Wedding
Jay Chandrasekhar, of Broken Lizard, has made a decent name for himself as a cult comedy director. After he had the hilarious Super Troopers under his belt (we'll just ignore Club Dread out of courtesy), he made the jump to a more mainstream comedy in the 2005 bland and uninspired Dukes of Hazzard. Luckily he followed it up with another worthy cult comedy in Beerfest. As of late, Chandrasekhar has spent a lot of time as a gun for hire directing episodes for Universal television series like "Psych" and "Chuck." Variety now reports his return to features directing Shotgun Wedding, comedy he co-wrote with David Gilcreast.
The low budget comedy follows the traveling antics of a bachelor when he asks his friends to join him on a weekend trip for his wedding (uh oh, sounds like The Hangover). Aside from the story details, I'm sure we can expect that Chandrasekhar ...
I don't quite understand the career of Robin Williams. Not many people have this many wide swings back and forth between classic films and performances and complete trash, and I’m afraid this latest endeavor will likely fall into the latter category. Williams has signed on for his second wedding-pun-themed comedy in two years (after LICENSE TO WED) called WEDDING BAND.
It follows a father and his ex-wife...

Casting Notes: Robin Williams in Wedding Banned, Maggie Grace in Wichita
For those who've wondered what happened to Page 2, it isn't gone. The last couple weeks have just been so slow that there isn't enough to fill up a Page 2 post. (It's the end of the summer; expect news to pick up in a couple weeks as the festival season kicks in.) So in the meantime enjoy these casting notes roundups. Today we've got news of Robin Williams and Maggie Grace joining new projects, after the break.
First up, THR reports that Robin Williams will be part of a Touchstone romantic comedy called Wedding Banned, which I'm tempted to hate based on the title alone. There's no director yet for the film, which was written by Jack Amiel and Michael Begler. Film is about "a long-divorced couple who kidnap their daughter on her wedding day to prevent her from making the same mistakes they did. The divorced parents rekindle their ...
