And so, the following list excludes any gynocentric titles about groups of women who spend most of their screen time focused on sex, romance and/or heartbreak (i.e., Little Darlings, The First Wives Club, Waiting to Exhale, Sex and the City, The Women, etc., etc., etc.). The list also excludes stor
Columbia Pictures has acquired Babe in the Woods, an original action-comedy spec script written by scribe/actor Mike White, say the trades. Whites credits include Orange County and School of Rock. He made his directorial debut in 2007 with the Molly Shannon dramedy Year of the Dog.
The script is about a female freshman from the Midwest who arrives at Yale and becomes a target of the New Jersey mob. White will produce through his Rip Cord Prods. banner with David Bernad. He'll do a polish on the script before it goes out to directors and cast.
White's Rip Cord, which has its deal at Paramount, recently completed Gentlemen Broncos, written and directed by Jared Hess, for Fox Searchlight, which will release it in October. That film is an outgrowth of White's relationship with Hess from Nacho Libre, which White wrote and Hess directed.
Rip Cord is also producing Oh the Glory of it All with White's School of Rock accomplice Scott Rudin at Miramax. White wrote that film based on the Sean Wilsey memoir, and he is also scripting the School of Rock sequel, School of Rock 2: America Rocks.
In front of the camera White has appeared in School of Rock, The Stepford Wives, Smother and the upcoming horror-comedy Zombieland.

Now on board to play the wives are Rosamund Pike, Minnie Driver and ...

They fill Grand Central twice a day these 1950s Manhattan salary men in their gray flannel suits. They disembark from commuter trains in the morning, then, return to the platforms at day's end for trips back to their suburban homes and families. Frank Wheeler (Leonardo DiCaprio) is one of them, working at Knox, the same office machinery company where his father worked. It's not the life Frank planned for himself or his pretty wife April (Kate Winslet).
The Wheelers see themselves as different from the people around them, worldlier, less vulgar. So Frank and April plan to relocate their family to Paris and begin a new bohemian chapter. But when their plans go awry, cracks begin to quickly appear in their comfortable lives. The Wheelers are not as happy as they think.
