Patches over on deviant art has taken anime characters that her friend has created and placed them in the world of Stephen King’s The Shining, in a few classic scenes. So if anime characters were to star in The Shining it would look something like this.
The Making of The Shining is one of my favorite making of documentaries for many reasons. First of all, Stanley Kubrick allowed his then-17-year-old daughter, Vivian, to make the documentary while he was in production. So it's far different from the standard epk making of doc, and takes on more of a fly on the wall narrative - you feel like you're there. IT does also include some sit down interviews, but even those seem less rehearsed and more authentic than most. And lastly, we get to see the filming of what many believe to be one of the best films of all time.
Originally created for the British television show BBC Arena, the documentary "offers rare insight into the shooting process of a Kubrick film." I believe this is included on the DVD release, but I doubt most of you have seen it. And I was able to find both ...

Gooby Movie Trailer (A Kids Movie About the Bear in The Shining?)
What kind of slimy creature passed for human long enough to make this film? I would not be surprised if the director died recently of perversion withdraw. People keep emailing me this trailer because they think it is funny. No. It’s disturbing. It’s sick. What is Gooby? Gooby is the fucking thing you see above, a furry figment in the “very active” imagination of a young boy named Willy.
As seen here, Gooby is constantly blowing the mind of Eugene Levy, so much so that his hair stands up like Wolverine’s. Gooby is voiced by the guy who plays Hagrid in the Harry Potter franchise. But who really plays Gooby? Who is the Prowse to the Earl Jones? A sick man, and a furry enthusiast no doubt. In fact, every time I view the trailer in horror, I’m more convinced that Gooby is actually the bear-man from The Shining. I guess I should have known better than to include The Shining in a poll about haunted house movies... not that it doesn't qualify as one (technically it is a hotel, but they do live there), but it kind of ensured that no one else had a shot at winning this thing. I honestly thought more people would have voted for some of the old classics, but I'm guessing they just aren't that well-known. At any rate, Poltergeist was a strong second, followed by The Orphanage, and a two-way tie between The Amityville Horror and The Haunting. Maybe I should have included some less obvious choices like Monster House or Beetlejuice. Are there any other "outside the box" haunted house movies that we missed?
1. The Shining -- 44.7%
2. Poltergeist -- 20.7%
3. The Orphanage -- 7.4%
4. The Amityville Horror -- 5.9%
4. The Haunting -- 5.9%
6. The Sixth Sense -- 4.8%
7. The Changeling -- 4.3%
8. The Others -- 3.7%
9. The Innocents -- 1.6%
10. The Uninvited -- 1.1%

“Little pigs, little pigs, let me come in. Not by the hair of your chiny-chin-chin? Well then I’ll huff and I’ll puff, and I’ll blow your house in.” This Jack Nicholson / The Shining graffiti is one of the coolest pieces of film related street art I’ve ever seen.

Samuel L. Jackson on Soul Men
Tuesday, November 4, 2008 2:00 PM | From CanMag.Com
We've seen Samuel L. Jackson with funny hair before. That was the hook of his big break performance. Soul Men plays it more overtly for laughs, showing every era of a fictional soul trio in the decades of music and fashion.
Samuel L Jackson One of Two Soul Men
"We just kind of put on the stuff," said Jackson. "The pompadours were kind of funny because that’s a specific era. You remember seeing groups like that for sure. Then the Earth, Wind, & Fire mode. We were up there actually singing ‘Shining Star’ and John [Legend] didn’t know the words. We were like, ‘Everybody knows “Shining Star."’"
In the film, Louis (Jackson) and Floyd (Bernice Mac) reunite after their lead singer dies.
Yesterday we told you about Fantastic Fest’s geektastic party at the Timberline Lodge, the original shooting location for Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining. In the post I mentioned that one of the things that a Limited Edition Silkscreened Event Poster was being included in the packages. And you know how much I love Alamo’s tribute posters… [...]
