District 9 promotion

Tuesday, June 9, 2009 8:14 AM | From Joblo.Com
I'm pretty sure that very few people will know what the hell is being advertised in these posters, but nonetheless the DISTRICT 9 people are doing their best on the promotion end. Still, if they really want to push this thing, they should take out ad space on Kobe Bryant's frown. I've seen that guys face more than my own this week. Read More... Read Article

Which Movie Has the Better Pizza Promotion: Wolverine or Terminator Salvation?

Thursday, April 9, 2009 9:28 AM | From Film Junk
Nothing says summer blockbuster quite like a good fast food promotion, and although Happy Meals have always been a pretty reliable marketing tool in the past, this year it seems like Hollywood has a hankerin' for some 'za instead. Earlier this week Pizza Hut [1] unveiled a new website for Terminator Salvation where they will be showing off exclusive footage from the movie and running a contest with some sweet prizes including a trip to the Hollywood premiere. On top of that, they will also be giving away a free one-topping medium pizza to anyone named John Connor or Sarah Connor on Thursday, May 21. I'm serious. Not to be outdone, Papa John's [2] just launched a promotion of their own this week for X-Men Origins: Wolverine. They're not giving away any prizes, but instead, they've created a new pizza specifically for Logan and his pals: the XL X-treme Cheese Pizza, which comes loaded with nearly a full pound of cheese! Genius. Obviously the folks at Fox are still so busy doing damage control on the leaked workprint that they don't seem to realize that being associated with "a full pound of cheese" might be a bad thing for Wolverine's rep. Well, at least Papa John's didn't give away the movie's top secret (read: not in the least bit shocking) PG-13 rating. What do you think, which pizza promotion offers the best value in the current economic climate? Is one less embarrassing than the other? We reported the other day about the Weinstein Company's schedule shift, which has resulted in yet another move for Fanboys, the story of a group of friends who rally together and go on a road trip to sneak a peek at Star Wars: Episode I prior to its release. It almost seems like the waiting for Fanboys has gotten worse than the waiting for The Phantom Menace. The date may have shifted, but the Weinsteins are ramping up promotion for ... Read Article
