CBS Digital Guru Quincy Smith Leaving

Wednesday, October 28, 2009 1:56 PM | From Deadline Hollywood Daily
I've just confirmed the BusinessWeek report that Quincy Smith, the one-time investment banker turned digital guru, is leaving his job in January as CEO of CBS Interactive to start his own consulting firm. (Back when he was venture capilatist and then investment banker with Allen And Company, Smith advised Google and Comcast.) Ron Grover's report says Smith will continue to provide consulting services to CBS. Since joining CBS in early 2006, Smith has been Les Moonves' top new media advisor who counseled CBS to keep its distance from Hulu.com unlike NBC, Fox and ABC. Under his guidance, the company has been building its own [...] Read Article

How Well Do Your Friends Know Your Taste in Movies?

Monday, October 5, 2009 1:49 AM | From RopeofSilicon
How well do your friends know your movie tastes? This question came to my mind over the weekend when I texted our box-office guru Laremy Legel asking him if he thought I would like the Coen brothers' film The Hudsucker Proxy. Little did he know I had just finished watching it and wanted to see [...] Read Article

Jessica Alba Might Be Dealing with Some Little Fockers

Wednesday, September 30, 2009 11:00 AM | From FirstShowing.net
Recently we saw Jessica Alba in the trailer premiere for the ensemble romantic comedy Valentine's Day.  And while there's no doubt she's still got the looks and a bit of charm to keep some of us interested, the trailer confirmed that it's another in a long line of generic and dull career choices for Alba. She just might have a chance to turn that all around as Variety reports that Alba is in talks to join the third installment of the Meet the Parents films which as far as we know is still being called Little Fockers.  Perhaps she'll get the chance to show her more comedic side which unfortunately didn't ever show up in The Love Guru. Alba's role doesn't sound all that great as "an attractive pharmaceutical rep whose looks wreak havoc on male characters in the story, but apparently this is a key role alongside the film's stars ... Alba gets Fockered

Wednesday, September 30, 2009 1:21 AM | From Joblo.Com
She's given horror and comic book movies a good try, but is Jessica Alba's real calling in comedy? Not if you take THE LOVE GURU or GOOD LUCK CHUCK as any sort of sign, but that isn't stopping her from putting laughs on the line once more. You gotta admire her fortitude. And her superior posterior. Alba is in talks to join the scarcely necessary but sure-to-be-profitable sequel THE LITTLE FOCKERS, completing the... Read More... Read Article

Gerard Butler on The Ugly Truth

Thursday, July 23, 2009 3:49 PM | From CanMag.Com
The ladies love Gerard Butler. Just ask them. Even when he’s covered by a mask in Phantom of the Opera, even when he’s slaughtering Persians in 300, they love him. When he does sweet romance, forget it. Perhaps he is pushing his luck with The Ugly Truth though, playing a male-centric relationship guru who tells women they need to be skinny and pretty, and realize that men won’t meet their top 10 criteria.

The Ugly Truth Told by Gerard Butler
“No, I don’t think I’m pushing my luck,” Butler said. “That is something I’d like to do, but I don’t think I’m taking it too far. There is definitely a lot of me in this character but I think it’s more about being sort of boisterous and fun. I don’t expound those ideals but I do think that there is a lot of that going on in both men and women if we’re honest and frank about how we look at each other.”

Mike Chadway (Butler) gets a job on the morning show produced by a control freak producer (Katherine Heigl) who resents his theories. Wanna guess what happens to them by the end? Read Article
