Leona Lewis Will Be The Celine Dion Of Avatar

Tuesday, November 17, 2009 3:04 AM | From Cinema Blend
WIth all the marketing focusing on cutting-edge technology and space weaponry and battle cries, there's something we're not really talking about with regard to Avatar-- it's probably going to have a lot in common with Titanic. Not only is James Cameron too smart and too money-hungry not to try and replicate just a little of his most successful movie ever, but the plot elements are all there-- a forbidden love set against an action backdrop, two people coming together from ... WILLY WONKA AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY Blu-ray Review

Tuesday, October 20, 2009 10:21 PM | From Collider
I love Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Partly because of nostalgia. It’s shot like a TV movie. Painfully so at times. But the moral play works well enough, and Gene Wilder gives a hell of a performance. On the edge of malice and crazy, he walks it. On that level, I prefer it to [...] Read Article

First Photos & Poster from John Lennon Biopic Nowhere Boy

Monday, October 19, 2009 6:28 PM | From FirstShowing.net
Nowhere Boy is a film that I've actually been looking forward to for quite a while. It may be because I love The Beatles or it may be because I'm actually excited to see a good musician biopic about a band I like. We covered the casting late last year and now the film is premiering at the London Film Festival this week. As part of that premiere, the first shots of Aaron Johnson as John Lennon as well as the official poster (or at least the official festival poster) have popped up online courtesy of The Playlist and Zimbio. Not only do the photos look great, but I really love the design of this poster. If only I could catch the premiere in London. John Lennon is an ordinary 15 year old boy on the streets of Liverpool. Funny, smart, naughty, a real edge to him. But life is not ... Read Article

Check This Out: Creepy Japanese Poster for The Descent 2

Thursday, October 15, 2009 4:28 PM | From FirstShowing.net
There are a handful of new posters out today (Me and Orson Welles, Edge of Darkness) but my favorite brand new one is this Japanese poster for The Descent 2. I love the designs that come out of Japan for promo materials and posters with intense close-ups and very dark colors, and this is one of those kinds of posters. I won't say it's the most original design I've ever seen, but I definitely love the look of it, especially the shot of the creature hidden in the lower right corner. I prefer that the creature is shown smaller so it doesn't give away too much or scare moviegoers. Anyway, check it out below thanks to ShockTillYouDrop! We featured an early teaser trailer for The Descent 2 back in August, so definitely check that out as well! Distraught, confused, and half-wild with fear, Sarah Carter emerges alone from the cave system where ... Read Article

edge of darkness header

Personal demons aside, it’s great to see Mel Gibson stepping back in front of the camera for the first time in five years (six if you don’t count his cameo in PAPARAZZI). Not only is he coming back to the acting world, he’s got two first-rate movies in the pipeline. He’s already shown us the beaver, now, he’s about to show us the darkness.  In fact, today, thanks to Yahoo! Movies, we get our first glimpse of that darkness.

With EDGE OF DARKNESS, Gibson goes back to doing what he made a name for himself doing, kicking tail and forgetting the…

Edge of Darkness Looks to Be Dark, Edgy Fun

Thursday, October 15, 2009 12:07 PM | From Latino Review
Once again, Harrison Ford is fighting to avenge his daughter -- wait, no, actually it's Mel Gibson. Edge of Darkness is an upcoming 2010 film that's the remake of BBC series originally aired in the 80s. Gibson, a long-time fan of the series, plays the main character, Thomas Craven, a homicide detective who's out to find the people who killed his daughter in front of him. What he instead finds is that his daughter was an activist with a classified day job who was being targeted by a web of conspiracies and cover-ups. Check out the trailer below or head over to Yahoo for an HD look at what appears to be an intriguing mystery thriller, with Gibson butting heads with the government all for the sake of his daughter -- think Ransom only with more action and less cough syrup. As cool as the film looks though, Gibson's attempt at a Boston accent can certainly jar one out of the world of Edge of Darkness. Maybe I'll enjoy this film more once it's dubbed into Spanish. Bojana Novakovi stars as Gibson's apparently equally badass daughter, Emma Craven.   Source: Yahoo Read Article

Trailer Shows Us the Edge of Darkness

Thursday, October 15, 2009 3:14 AM | From CanMag.Com
When I first heard of Mel Gibson's role in Edge of Darkness I immediately thought of Taken. Now, after watching the trailer, it turns out I was half right. The latest preview makes the film look like a mixture of Taken and a no-partner Lethal Weapon. A combo that I'm liking!

Edge of Darkness Trailer
Edge of Darkness centers on a veteran cop (Gibson) whose only grown-up child (Novakovic) is murdered on the steps of his home. The cop unearths his daughter's secret life and discovers a world of corporate cover-ups and government collusion. Huston takes on the role of a shady businessman while Roberts will play the role of the daughter's distraught boyfriend. Read Article
