Get a Terminator, On Sale
Tuesday, November 3, 2009 12:21 AM | From CanMag.Com
Terminator Salvation was not nearly as good as I wanted it to be, and it didn't do nearly as well as Halcyon hoped. Coincidence? I think so!
Since the fruits of their labor fell short on costs, an auction is now set for January for Halcyon Co. to sell the rights to future Terminator pics, TV series, DVDs and merchandise as part of its bankruptcy process.
Terminator Up for Auction
The franchise should most definitely sell, and an exec from FTI Capital Advisers, who are working with Halcyon, has already admitted that strong interest has been building since paperwork for the sale has gone out. Whether this is true or just a play by the company, one can only guess. But there is a perk we're told.
It was just announced that the Halcyon Holding Group company will be auctioning off the rights to the "Terminator" franchise later this month. It is expected to bring in at least $60 million and every major studio has already expressed interest.
Joss Whedon Will Give You $10,000 for Your TERMINATOR Rights and Not a Penny More!
Earlier today we reported that this week the rights for the “Terminator” were up for auction. Now self-proclaimed movie-mogul, the mastermind behind such films as “Titan A.E.”, “Parenthood” (not the movie or the new TV series), and “Alien Resurrection” (although he really wishes you wouldn’t credit him for that), is interested in buying the “Terminator” [...]

Was it good??? Well it’s useless now!
The rights to the the Terminator franchise will be up for bid later this month. Though the auction does not cover previous Terminator films, the buyer will have the ability to make new Terminator movies, television programs and other spin-offs that build on the popularity of the franchise.

Got a Few Million Bucks? Buy the Terminator Rights!
Little over a month ago we told you that rights for the Terminator franchise were probably going to hit the auction block to pay off debts for the Halcyon Holding Group, which bought the rights in 2007 for $25m. Now that has come to pass. Rights to the series are for sale, and the list of interested bidders is long and, for the most part, not at all surprising.
Nikki Finke reports that every big Hollywood studio is interested in the purchase, as are Summit and Media Rights Capital. Sony has the greatest interest, she says, as the auction is prepped for later this month. The package to be sold is fairly complete, as it includes the rights to "new Terminator films, TV program and other spin-offs." (Video games? One would assume so, and perhaps this sale will lead to the eventual release of a decent licensed Terminator game.)
Can't wait to ...
Have a couple million bucks lying around? Why not buy a dying franchise? If you're just swimming around your giant money pit spitting gold coins into air, you might want to pool your money and buy the TERMINATOR franchise rights. The Financial Times (via Coming Soon) is reporting that the rights to the future of the TERMINATOR franchise is going on auction later this month.
So what do you get for all your...

About a month ago, we reported that the Halcyon Holding Group company has decided to sell the rights to the "Terminator" franchise after buying it for $25 million two years ago. Owners Derek Anderson and Victor Kubicek used the rights to make "Terminator Salvation," but now need money to pay the bills for some of their other failing companies.
After seeing “Terminator Salvation” and its disappointing gross of $125 million (according to Box Office Mojo, it cost $200 million to make), I made a prediction that the series would see a re-boot before it saw another sequel. Since “Terminator” is one of the few major franchises not owned by one of the big studios, [...]
