Abrams Talks Star Trek Sequel

Wednesday, September 16, 2009 12:35 PM | From CanMag.Com
One of my favorite films of 2009 is without a doubt Star Trek. I'm geeked on a franchise that I used to only like for Wrath of Khan (and a soft spot in my heart for the antics in Voyage Home). I have also been a die-hard fan of J.J. Abrams since before Lost -- okay, maybe not die hard until Lost -- and am happy to see that both these entities are sticking together for any possible sequel.

Star Trek Sequel Talk
LA Times caught up to JJ Abrams and Roberto Orci to discuss the current happenings for a possible Star Trek sequel. Abrams reminds us that he won't make another movie just to cash in on a sequel, and is looking for the next angle they'd like to approach. Read Article

Star Trek The Marathon: There Be Whales Here!

Wednesday, May 6, 2009 5:35 PM | From Cinema Blend
Our Star Trek marathon warps on with our fourth film, Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home. Katey remains a total Trek noob and Josh is, as always, a huge nerd. Follow along with our entire marathon by going right here. JOSH: After the success of Wrath of Khan, I'd really hoped Search for Spock would seal the deal and make Katey a lifelong Trekker. But she didn't buy into my insistence that Star Trek III is better than it gets ... Read Article

Weekly Poll Results: Best Environmental-Themed Movie

Wednesday, April 29, 2009 9:56 AM | From Film Junk
Earth Day inspired last week's poll topic, which was environmental-themed movies. Looking at the results, it's cool to see that the votes were spread out across many different genres, although the winner was certainly no surprise: Pixar's Wall-E! The "save the whales" theme from Star Trek IV was blatant enough to secure the #2 spot on the poll, while Korean monster movie The Host held down #3. Whale Rider and Happy Feet finished in a deadlock for last place, despite the fact that they both were critically-acclaimed and received Academy Award recognition. I guess not everyone can have the Pixar Touch™! 1. Wall-E -- 29% 2. Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home -- 15.7% 3. The Host -- 11.9% 4. An Inconvenient Truth -- 10.4% 4. Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind -- 10.4% 6. The Toxic Avenger -- 9.7% 7. Soylent Green -- 6% 8. Erin Brockovich -- 3.7% 9. Happy Feet -- 1.5% 9. Whale Rider -- 1.5% Read Article

New Star Trek Production Photos

Thursday, April 23, 2009 5:28 PM | From CanMag.Com
Paramount Pictures has sent over a new batch of movie stills for Star Trek. With the film's theatrical release quickly approaching, expect the media updates to begin beaming in at an accelerated rate.

Star Trek Stills
As an added bonus, Paramount has also released a collection of dossiers, which give those of you non-Trekkies descriptions and definitions on various planets, races and characters. What I'd suggest is just go watch Wrath of Khan. End of story. Maybe Voyage Home for a couple of laughs, but stick with Khan. Read Article
