Friday, November 20, 2009 12:32 PM | From /Film
Comic book and sci-fi films are meant to exist in a fantasy world separate from the real world, which is why when the two worlds start bleeding together, the results can be equally exciting and terrifying. After the jump, we'll hear stories of bank-robbing Spider-men, Klingon-speaking parents, and a beam of light that just might kill you. First up, it looks like Spider-Man hasn't been taking his "Great Power, Great Responsibility" speech very seriously these days. Via Topless Robot, we've learned of a litany of crimes perpetrated by people dressed as Spider-Man. A few weeks ago, two people dressed in Spider-Men costumes walked into a Southlake bank; while one of them threatened customers, the other one loaded up on cash. The pair got away but according to the Star Telegram, "The bandits left in a dark minivan with a broken rear passenger window covered by a red tarp or blanket, police ... Read Article

Gary Ross to write and direct Venom Spider-Man spinoff.

Thursday, November 19, 2009 11:48 AM | From MovieJungle

Gary Ross ("Seabiscuit," "Pleasantville") who is already rewritting "Spider-Man 4" for Columbia Pictures, is now making a deal to write and direct "Venom," a spinoff of series.

Marvel Entertainment's Avi Arad will produce with Ross. The story tells of Venom, an archenemy of Spider-Man who will be transformed into an antihero who defends the innocent.

In "Spider-Man 3," Venom was played by Topher Grace who started out as Eddie Brock, a competitive photographer and Peter Parker's rival. After he's infected with the black, alien organism which grafts itself to his sckin, Brock develops superpowers and strength far greater than Spider-Man's.

Grace, who just signed on to Fox's "Predators," is unlikely to reprise his role.

Columbia is also developing another "Ghost Rider," as if the first film wasn't bad enough.

Spider-Man 4 casting - Rachel McAdams is not Black Cat according to the actress

Thursday, November 19, 2009 11:48 AM | From MovieJungle

Despite buzz last week about Rachel McAdams perhaps playing the Black Cat character in "Spider-Man 4," the actress herself has brushed away the rumor, telling Entertainment Weekly that "I was hanging out in Toronto the other day and someone came up to me and said, 'I just heard you're doing Spider-Man 4.' And I said, 'Really? No one told me!' It's not true."

Entertainment Weekly also stated that a rep from Sony also dismissed this as a rumor. However, remember that the same thing happened with the new version of "Karate Kid" and Will Smith's son landing the leading role and it turned out exactly that.

Still, she would be well-fitted to the role. Let's hope the latest version outdoes the last abomination which was a joke in each and every respect.

Thursday, November 19, 2009 1:40 AM | From Collider
As Spider-Man 4 prepares to spin into production, we should expect a lot more casting rumors before we start hearing casting news.  In the past week, we’ve already heard Rachel McAdams and Julia Stiles possibly being in the film.  Fans are assuming that these women (or any attractive actress with a recognizable name and certain [...] Read Article

Anne Hathaway Added To The Possible List For Spider-Man 4

Wednesday, November 18, 2009 7:44 PM | From /Film
Nikki Finke, who in the past has proven to have sources deep within Marvel Entertainment, is now reporting that producers are very interested in casting Anne Hathaway in a "starring role" in Spider-Man 4. If you've been following the rumor mill for the last few days, then you've heard a bunch of different names supposedly in consideration for the new female lead role, rumored to be Black Cat, in the Spider-man fourquel including Rachel McAdams (who has since denied the reports), Romola Garai (who auditioned for the role), and Julia Stiles (who also met with casting directors). All four actresses fall into the near 30-year-old age range. Hathaway is the only one of the bunch who has a vastly different look, and darker hair. I know we're probably all getting tired of this "take a meeting" casting talk, and would rather just know the final name, but we're just reporting ... Read Article

Julia Stiles Tossed into the Spider-Man 4 Rumor Mill, Too

Wednesday, November 18, 2009 11:00 AM | From FirstShowing.net
Just yesterday, our friends at SlashFilm reported that Rachel McAdams denied the rumors that said she was up for Black Cat in Spider-Man 4, and while they seem pretty confident that she's just keeping secrets, her genuine surprise at the thought says otherwise, on top of the fact that we have it on good authority that McAdams has not even met with casting directors, producers or even Sam Raimi for any role in Spider-Man 4. So what of this new Julia Stiles casting meeting rumor (as discovered by UGO) that says she's also in the running for the villainous vixen Black Cat? Well, I don't think it's as cut and dry as that, and here's why. Yes, there is word going around from Hey U Guys saying that Felicia Hardy (Black Cat's alter ego) is indeed the new female role Sam Raimi and Co. are looking to cast, and that apparently, ...
