Leona Lewis Will Be The Celine Dion Of Avatar

Tuesday, November 17, 2009 3:04 AM | From Cinema Blend
WIth all the marketing focusing on cutting-edge technology and space weaponry and battle cries, there's something we're not really talking about with regard to Avatar-- it's probably going to have a lot in common with Titanic. Not only is James Cameron too smart and too money-hungry not to try and replicate just a little of his most successful movie ever, but the plot elements are all there-- a forbidden love set against an action backdrop, two people coming together from ... Daniel Craig Likes That Haunted House After All

Friday, August 28, 2009 9:56 AM | From Cinema Blend
We reported back in June that Daniel Craig was considering a starring role in Dream House, a psychological thriller that might sound generic and kind of stupid, but is being directed by In America director Jim Sheridan, who is actually a smart guy. Or at least, he's smart enough for Daniel Craig, who has now officially signed on to the film, according to Variety. Craig plays the father of a family that relocates to a small New England town, where ... Read Article

Are General Audiences Too Stupid to Enjoy Smart Movies?

Monday, August 3, 2009 12:21 AM | From RopeofSilicon
Sure, the headline could have been worded a little kinder. I could have asked if supposed "smart" movies were considered too boring for general audiences. I could have even gone middle-of-the-road and asked if audiences just don't "get" smart movies. But all of those alternatives would simply beat around the bush and avoid the real [...] Read Article

IN THE LOOP Review

Wednesday, July 22, 2009 10:56 AM | From Spout Blog
Now as much as ever, Hollywood comedy is heavily preoccupied with pandering to the median. Something like Bruno is clearly designed to make the viewer feel good about their own brain power and education each laugh is equivalent to an Im smart enough to behave better than that statement, whether its Im smart enough [...] Read Article

Laugh Out Loud At The New Mystery Team Trailer.

Monday, July 20, 2009 5:00 PM | From Latino Review
I made it no secret that Mystery Team was perhaps my favorite film at Sundance, and one of the funniest comedies I'd seen in years. I seriously laughed my ass off the entire time. I love comedy that's so stupid, you have to actually be smart to get it, and the Derrick guys really know their shit when it comes to that. You can read my mini-review of Mystery Team HERE which also has the red band trailer.A more PC trailer has just been released, showing footage not in the red band one. But this trailer is smart because it doesn't show any of the really gut splitting moments. It's annoying when trailers ruin too much of their own film.Check out the trailer below. Friday, July 17, 2009 3:00 PM | From Screen Rant
Believe or not there are some people in the world that HAVEN’T seen Transformers 2. Yes, I know it’s hard to believe - especially with TF2 raking in almost three quarters of a billion dollars worldwide - but it’s true! So what are these people willing watch if not the biggest blockbuster film of the [...] Read Article

Star Trek Map Of The Stars

Saturday, May 16, 2009 1:00 AM | From Cinema Blend
You know those really cheesy celebrity maps that people sell on street corners in Hollywood? They list the places celebrities live so you can go and stand outside their well-guarded mansion and think, "Hey, someone I've seen on my moving picture box lives here!" It's really pointless because no smart celebrity (minus Lindsay Lohan) would ever offer you even a glimpse into their home life, but people like the idea anyway. Well, there's officially a geek version. Wired.com has ... Read Article

Get Smart Director Will Raise The Little Fockers

Friday, March 20, 2009 11:42 AM | From Cinema Blend
Production is still running ahead at a lightning pace for Little Fockers, with a cast lined up and a script being written as we speak. Now Pete Segal, who made last summer's Get Smart, is apparently the frontrunner for the directing job. Segal had been planning to make Get Smart 2 this year, according to Variety, but Steve Carell went off to make a romantic comedy with Tina Fey instead. Now Segal may be preparing to direct John Hamburg's script, after ... Read Article
