A new behind the scenes featurette, part of HBOs First Look series, for Michael Manns Public Enemies has popped online and you can check it out below. The nearly 13 minute video features Mann and the cast talking about the making of the John Dillinger crime-drama, which arrives in theaters July 1. Centering around the FBI and their attempts to try to take down notorious American gangsters John Dillinger, Baby Face Nelson and Pretty Boy Floyd during a booming crime wave in the 1930s, the film stars Johnny Depp, Christian Bale, Marion Cotillard, Billy Crudup, Giovanni Ribisi, Channing Tatum, Stephen Dorff, Rory Cochrane and Leelee Sobieski. The ilm is based on Brian Burrough's nonfiction book "Public Enemies: America's Greatest Crime Wave and the Birth of the FBI, 1933-34" which focuses on the crime wave of the 1930's with figures like Bonny and Clyde, John Dillinger, Baby Face Nelson and Pretty Boy Floyd making headlines.

Johnny Depp plays Dillinger and Christian Bale plays Melvin Purvis who led the FBI's manhunt for Dillinger.

Its based on the Bryan Burrough book Public Enemies: America's Greatest Crime Wave and the Birth of the FBI, 1933-34 and Mann co-wrote the film with Ronan Bennett (Lucky Break) and Ann Biderman (Primal Fear). Official Synopsis: In the action-thriller Public Enemies, acclaimed filmmaker Michael Mann directs Johnny Depp, Christian Bale and Academy AwardŽ winner Marion Cotillard in the story of legendary Depression-era outlaw John Dillinger (Depp)the charismatic bank robber whose lightning raids made him the number one target of J. Edgar Hoover's fledgling FBI and its top agent, Melvin Purvis (Bale), and a folk hero to much of the downtrodden public. No one could stop Dillinger and his gang. No jail could hold him.
