Tuesday, October 27, 2009 5:07 PM | From GeekTyrant

Melbourne’s Today Show aired a 4-minute behind the scenes look at director Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood. The segment features a hilarious interview with an extremely blunt Russell Crowe, who stars as the title character. Crowe likened the hair and set pieces of the Kevin Costner take on Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves, to “watching an [...] Read Article

Another Robin Hood Movie Set in a Dystopian Future?

Friday, August 7, 2009 3:42 PM | From Film Junk
Right about now I don't think there are too many people who feel we need yet another adaptation of Robin Hood, but hey, since when has that ever stopped Hollywood? In addition to Ridley Scott's upcoming film which is currently in production right now with Russell Crowe in the lead role, there was also the recent Robin Hood BBC series, and then of course back in the '90s we had both Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves and the Mel Brooks parody Robin Hood: Men in Tights. Nonetheless, producers Charles Roven and Richard Suckle (The International, Scooby-Doo) are determined to put their own twist on the story by moving it to the future. Rocket Robin Hood anyone? According to the Risky Biz Blog [1], Atlas Entertainment and Hollywood Gang have set up the project at Warner Brothers, with Danish commercial director Nicolai Fulgsig signed on to direct. (He is the man behind the Sony Bravia commercial with the bouncy balls being dropped down a hill in San Francisco.) Jason Hall (Spread, Blacklight) will write the flick, which will be "set in a dystopian London and center on a band of thieves whose activities restore hope to the city's embattled population". Okay, I have to admit, this could be kind of cool. Heck, maybe this is what Ridley Scott should have been doing with his version of Robin Hood? I've embedded Fulgsig's Sony Bravia spot after the jump. [1] http://www.riskybusinessblog.com/2009/08/futuristic-robin-hood-at-warner-bros.html

Remember that douchebag King Richard who kind of dominated the Third Crusade and became known as Richard The Lionheart because of it? Neither do I. Regardless, Danny Huston, he of "son of John Huston" fame has been cast as the legendary king in Ridley Scott's upcoming ROBIN HOOD. As we all know, Russell Crowe is starring as the prince of thieves and Cate Blanchett is playing his beloved Maid Marian.... Read More... Read Article

Check Out Russell Crowe as Robin Hood

Sunday, April 19, 2009 11:07 PM | From Get The Big Picture
I could tell by his guest spot on Letterman the other night that the rumors about Russell Crowe not losing his Body of Lies weight for Robin Hood were garbage. In fact, Crowe looked better Friday night than he has since Gladiator. The hair was cropped short, he fit into his clothes, and he looked healthier than at any point in the past few years.

And now we see what all of his hard work is going toward. USA Today has a first look at Robin Hood, the new Ridley Scott update of the legendary tale of the prince of thieves. No tights, which is a plus:

Michael Wincott Starring in Swedish Indie

Wednesday, December 3, 2008 12:49 AM | From The Moving Picture
Michael Wincott and Swedish filmmaker Rafael Edholm have joined forces to write the script for a dark-edged drama set in the north of Sweden. Wincott will play one of the leads and Edholm will direct. Wincott describes the film as also having dark comedic elements. Its about three people meeting and something may have happened in their teenage years, which results in a death. The project is still casting another U.S. or U.K. actor, and a Swedish actress. Wincotts credits include The Three Musketeers, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Along Came a Spider, The Assassination of Richard Nixon, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly and most recently What Just Happened? Ingemar Johansson will produce for his production company Elfvik Film, with Filmpool Nord and the Swedish Film Institute as backers. A Finnish co-producer is expected to board shortly and Elfvik is negotiating with two U.S. indies to also back the project. The untitled film, which has a budget of $10 million, is set to shoot in February 2010 for release in the fall of the same year. Read Article
