Director Marc Forster on the Importance of Failure in Filmmaking
I've been waiting and waiting to feature a video interview from Making Of for a long time. If you haven't ever heard of Making Of, it's an incredible new website that focuses on the filmmaking process. They post new interviews daily with some of the most talented and brilliant filmmakers out there talking about their own process and some techniques and tips. I finally found a video today that I wanted to feature and it has Marc Forster in it talking about how important failure is in filmmaking. That may sound odd at first (how can failure help?), but if that title gets you to watch this video, then all the better. Anyway, check this out.
Marc Forster previously directed Quantum of Solace as well as The Kite Runner, Stranger Than Fiction, Stay, Finding Neverland, Monster's Ball, and Everything Put Together. He's attached to a number of upcoming projects, including World ...
It has been over a year since I boarded a plane to London to visit the Pinewood Studios set of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Disney's big screen adaptation of the popular video game. It's a one hour ride from our hotel near downtown London to Pinewood Studios. Prince of Persia has taken over the UK-based production studios, currently occupying eight out of ten of the sound-stages on the lot. Our shuttle driver drops us off on Goldfinger Ave, and we enter a building numbered Building Seven. Posters line the walls of every building in Pinewood, showing some of the many movies that have been filmed at the studio. In the lobby of Theater Seven, the posters include Tim Burton's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Hellboy 2, The Mutant Chronicles and Quantum of Solace. It is in this lobby that we meet with Michael Singer, the unit publicist ...
Every once in awhile, probably about twice a year, I will refuse to watch the trailer for an upcoming film. It’s something I’ve only started doing in the past, few years. I want to walk into the film not having seen any footage from it beforehand. I did it with KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL. I then did it with QUANTUM OF SOLACE. Needless to say, this isn’t going well for me, and I’m hoping I can make it 1 for 3 with SHUTTER ISLAND.
Today, we bring you a new trailer for Scorsese’s next film, newer than the trailer running…
