New Line Cinema to develop Vacation sequel.

Thursday, November 19, 2009 11:48 AM | From MovieJungle

New Line Cinema will develop a sequel of sorts to the 1983 comedy "Vacation." Also known as "National Lampoon's Vacation," the original film starred Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo as the Griswold parents who, thanks largely to Clark (Chase), always have some sort of botched holiday filled with memorable laughs.

Follow-ups to "Vacation" included "European Vacation" and "Christmas Vacation."

New Line is meeting with writers but the take is already worked. The story focuses on the son of Clark who is now a father and takes his own family on a road trip vacation.

This stinks like a flop already and something Sony would have invested in considering their murdering of the "Pink Panther" series of films.

First Look: Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan in The Kung-Fu Kid

Thursday, September 17, 2009 1:35 PM | From /Film
This is the first set photo I've seen from the Will Smith-produced remake/re-imagining of The Karate Kid, which thankfully has officially been retitled The Kung-Fu Kid. What are they doing? As you probably know by now, Jaden Smith plays Dre, a skateboarding video game buff who is forced to move to China after his single mother (Taraji P. Henson) is forced to transfer to the China for work. Of course, unable to speak Chinese, Dre finds it hard to settle in, and gets beat up by the local bully. Jackie Chan plays Mr. Han (the Mr. Miyagi character), a maintenance man who spots Dre's black-eye and offers to teach him both martial arts and Chinese, so he can defend against the students of Li Quan Ha's Fighting dragon school of Kung-Fu. Directed by Harald Zwart (The Pink Panther 2) and written by Chris Murphy and Steven Conrad (The Pursuit of Happyness). Filming ... Read Article

Shawn Levy To Direct Robotic Boxing Movie Red Steel

Wednesday, September 16, 2009 12:07 AM | From /Film
You might remember reading yesterday that Peter Berg officially signed on for Battleship as part of a two-picture deal at Universal Pictures. Today DreamWorks has announced that they will be replacing Berg on the studio's futuristic robot boxing movie Red Steel. Who will be replacing Berg? Night at the Museum hack Shawn Levy. Yup, our interest in this project just dropped a good 50 degrees. The film tells the story of a father and his estranged teenage son who enter the world of robotic boxing. You see, in the future, human boxing has been outlawed, replaced with sports combat between human-trained heavy steel robots. The concept is something we've never seen before, and in the right hands, could be a good Summer tentpole film. However, Levy is best know for directing mediocre or bad comedies, the Night at the Museum series, Cheaper By The Dozen, The Pink Panther, Just Married, and Big ... Read Article

Miranda Kerr Is NYC Fashion Week Pretty in Pink

Friday, September 11, 2009 6:00 AM | From Hollywood Chaos

Miranda Kerr could basically dress herself up in a Missy Elliot garbage bag and we'd still deem her hot. Aside from looking a little famished, Miranda sure does pull off that pink well. We can only hope that Orlando Bloom takes advantage of this each and every night... Read Article

Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje Wants Be the Black Panther

Thursday, August 6, 2009 11:49 AM | From Cinematical
Superheroines like Wonder Woman and Wasp aren't the only ones getting the short end of the adaptation stick. There hasn't been a real rush to offer up a little racial diversity either, despite that there are Marvel and DC heroes who are people of color. I mean, Luke Cage, Black Panther, Amazing Man, and the Silver Samurai would make fine films, but they're either languishing in talks, or excluded from the conversation altogether.

But there's some hope that we might see a Black Panther movie, and if we do, the credit might just go to the intense Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje. In an interview with Blackfilm, he revealed that the rights to the character have reverted back to Marvel. "It's now up for grabs and I'm doing the grabbing. I've always had a passion to play a superhero, and now it appears to becoming real. We're in talks with Marvel to playing one of my favorite superheroes, which is obviously Black Panther. There is truth to that, the fact that we are talking. It would be a boyhood dream to have that materialized. I was at Comic Con this year and the timing for such a character to come to life couldn't be more appropriate. I would love to be the one to wear the suit and go out and represent."

There's no doubt he'd represent very well , and just in case anyone from Marvel is reading, Agbaje would like stress why he's right pick for the role. "I'd like to convey an element of him that is real and raw ... I can make this guy real ... I would bring some elements from my culture, which is Nigeria. I'm from an area which is known for its regality. In fact, my name, Adewale, means the crown has come home, the crown is here. Together, with that rawness, and the regality because he is an African prince, I would love to bring out the cultural elements of my background to it." Sounds like a perfect fit to me ...
