Friday, November 20, 2009 12:24 PM | From Screen Rant
Until they announced Silent Hill 2 recently, I had no idea how many Screen Rant readers were actually fans of Christophe Gans’ 2006 movie adaptation. But now that I know, I’m keeping you guys in the loop about the sequel is developing. Earlier (this week) I reported that Silent Hill 2 could possibly start filming next [...] Read Article

Producer Says Silent Hill 2 Might Still Be a Long Ways Out

Thursday, November 19, 2009 8:56 PM | From FirstShowing.net
If there's one thing that will stop a movie dead in its tracks, it's one of the filmmakers being sent to prison. Such is the case with the developing horror sequel Silent Hill 2. While a sequel might not seem necessary or even desired, certain fans and, of course, the producers feel otherwise. Despite the delay caused by writer Roger Avary's imprisonment, make-up effects designer Paul Jones was still pumped for Silent Hill 2 just last week and it sounded like Avary was still on board. Now producer Don Carmody has shared some new info about the pending sequel with ShockTillYouDrop, and it's quite interesting to hear what he has to say. Right from the get-go, Carmody says, "Well, we have had a bit of a hiccup with Roger. We're just debating whether we can wait for him. He's writing the script for sure." But while we're waiting to hear if Avary ... Read Article

Silent Hill 2 in 2010?

Monday, November 16, 2009 3:20 PM | From HorrorMovies.ca

So back in the day we told you a Silent Hill 2 was coming at which point everyone said we were on crack, shortly after it was proven to be right. Around here we try not to make up our stories as much as possible. Although I will admit when Goon is on crack he does make up alot of stuff. The sequel was confirmed a long time ago but now from ShocktilyouDrop comes word that it might start filming in 2010. Designer Paul Jones tells them;

“I was working on storyboards for that around the same time last year…It’s going to be pretty crazy. There’s a lot of cool stuff in there. Roger (Avary) has some awesome ideas and hopefully we’re going to bring that to fruition sometime next year.”

Silent Hill was a very visually slick film and Silent Hill 2 if done right could be a big hit.

Are you ready to go back to SILENT HILL? It might be happening according to special makeup effects designer Paul Jones. He gave somewhat of an update, "I was working on storyboards for that around the same time last year. It's going to be pretty crazy. There's a lot of cool stuff in there. Free Flick of the Day: House on Haunted Hill

Wednesday, October 28, 2009 7:49 PM | From Cinematical
There's only a few days left until Halloween, and your supply of DVDs might be running a little low. But SlashControl has a few classic horror films up to entertain you on these final, spooky nights, like the original House on Haunted Hill. If all you've ever seen is the 1999 remake, then you owe it to yourself to spend a night with some old school horror.

Modern viewers won't find Haunted Hill very scary, although I challenge you to watch the opening in the dark, alone, while wearing a pair of headphones. If you don't find the screams and moans a little unsettling in your isolated state, you have nerves of steel. I commend you!

But the fun of this classic isn't in its scares (which are few even for 1959 standards), it's all in Vincent Price's performance. The sadistic, spiky interaction between him and his beautiful wife Annabelle remains funny long after the ghosts have left the scene. (The sour marriage is also the high point of the 1999 remake. No one does gleeful nastiness like Geoffery Rush.) Their bitter bon mots stress that the horror of this film isn't the skeletons and severed heads, it's the depths to which people sink for money.

Animated Series From Jonah Hill Greenlit by Fox. William H. Macy Drama, Shameless, Set for Showtime.

Thursday, October 15, 2009 10:28 AM | From /Film
Last week, we discussed the surprising, albeit less surreal in 2009, news that Fox had picked up an animated TV pilot based on the characters of subversive comic book legend Peter Bagge. Today, the network has greenlit another new animated series, this one from Jonah Hill, who will co-write, provide voice work, and executive produce. Details after the jump... A title for the series was not announced in the trades, but a logline was released. The lead character is "a 7-year-old socialite who acts and talks like an adult---and finds himself out of his element when forced to attend public school." Though in its own way, Mike Judge and Fox's King of the Hill (now concluded) was ahead of its time in this arena, you gotta love a new wave of depression-era shows referencing class and wealth in America, including the other series discussed below. It wasn't specified whether Hill would voice the rich ... Read Article

Mandalay Pictures Options Upcoming Novel Horns, by Stephen Kings Son Joe Hill

Monday, October 12, 2009 12:42 PM | From /Film
It's only within the last few years that the real identity of novelist and comic book writer Joe Hill has been revealed. He's Stephen King's son, though for years Hill concealed that fact (his full name is Joseph Hillstrom King) in order to make his own fortune. Good for him, and now that he's established to some extent and the truth is out, hopefully his family name only helps. Now he's sold his novel Horns to Mandalay Pictures, which will develop it before hopefully selling the package to a studio for production. Variety describes the novel, to be published early next year, as a love story backed with horror and vengeance that follows "a 26-year-old man who wakes up one morning from a blackout hangover and finds horns sprouting out of his head. As the horns grow bigger by the day, the reason why seems to lie in the unsolved murder ... Read Article

Horror Author Joe Hill Goes To The Movies

Monday, October 12, 2009 8:21 AM | From Cinema Blend
Joe Hill is just your average young writer, trying to get his books read and published. Then again, he's also the son of Stephen King, and perhaps that helped a little in getting his first two novels picked up for movie deals by major studios. The second deal just happened, with Mandalay Pictures picking up Hill's Horns, "a love story driven by horror and vengeance," about a young man who wakes up with a horrible hangover that brings the added ... REVIEW: Silent Hill: Homecoming

Friday, September 25, 2009 6:14 AM | From HorrorMovies.ca
"Silent Hill: Homecoming" may not have lived up to expectations, but if you're a fan of horror, than you'll probably still enjoy it. The game's biggest problem is the lack of a major creep factor. While "Homecoming" is heavily drenched in mystery, and is extremely atmospheric, it doesn't quite hold up to the squirm-inducing nature of the previous games. The bizarre creatures an... Read Article
