Major League 4 in the Works?

Monday, July 6, 2009 11:21 AM | From Film Junk
Even if you're not the kind of super fan [1] that would take a road trip to Cleveland for a Rick Vaughn bobblehead [2], I think most of us can agree that Major League is one of the best sports comedies ever made. It ranked #4 in our poll [3] a couple of years ago, but having rewatched part of it on TV not too long ago, I can definitely say that it still holds up. Well, with 2009 being the 20th anniversary of the original film, it seems that Warner Brothers may be working on something else for the fans as well... a little something called Major League 4! According to /Film [4], Bob Uecker (who played commentator Harry Doyle) was recently broadcasting from Wrigley Field where he mentioned that he had been in contact with the creative team behind the first three films, and that they are indeed developing a fourth Major League movie. Details are still a bit sketchy at the moment, but it seems like it will probably be another one of their Warner Premiere [5] direct-to-DVD titles. Unfortunately, I seriously doubt they would be able to get many of the original cast members back together again... is this even worth pursuing? Major League: Back to the Minors came out in 1998 and starred Scott Bakula, and I don't think I ever saw it. What do you think, is there still room for one more Major League sequel?
