Sony Screen Gems has found Chris Rock some company on the set of Death at a Funeral with the addition of Martin Lawrence and Tracy Morgan.

Directed by Neil LaBute off a script by Rock and Aeysha Carr, Death at a Funeral revolves around a dysfunctional family that gathers for the patriarch’s funeral. When tensions rise and old conflicts are uncovered, a man arrives saying he’s the dead man’s gay lover and threatens blackmail.
Danny Glover, Regina Hall, James Marsden, Zoe Saldana, Columbus Short, Loretta Devine and Ron Glass will round out the cast while making it quite the ensemble.
It's hard to top the cast of the original British farce Death at a Funeral, which wasn't particularly star-studded, but was absolutely hilarious. Chris Rock must have known this when he decided to remake the film with an African-American cast, so he's signed on about as many promising names as you can get. Martin Lawrence and Tracy Morgan have signed on to star alongside Chris Rock in Death at a Funeral, a Screen Gems and Sidney Kimmel Entertainment's remake of the 2007 British film of the same name.
Also joining the cast are Loretta Devine, Ron Glass, Danny Glover, Regina Hall, James Marsden, Zoe Saldana (Star Trek) and Columbus Short (Quarantine).
Neil LaBute (Lakeview Terrace, Nurse Betty) is directing the ensemble comedy in which a funeral ceremony turns into a debacle of misplaced cadavers and family secrets. When things can't get any worse, a man arrives saying he's the dead man's gay lover and threatens blackmail.
Rock, who co-wrote the script with Ayesha Carr (Everybody Hates Chris), is producing with Sidney Kimmel, Share Stalling, Lawrence Malkin and William Horberg.
Filming is scheduled to begin in the Spring.

We’re not sure the film needed to be remade, but we’re intrigued to see what LaBute and this cast will do with it…
