Kristen Stewart on The Twilight Saga: New Moon

Monday, November 23, 2009 1:04 PM | From CanMag.Com
The Twilight Saga: New Moon has Kristen Stewart’s most difficult scenes in the entire Twilight saga. When Edward breaks up with her, Bella has a total breakdown. It leaves her in bed writhing in emotional agony.

Kristen Stewart Talks New Moon
“I don't know how to explain how I did it,” Stewart said. “It was just about talking. I don't know. It was just about talking to [director Chris Weitz] and reading the book and I had no other actors play off. I mean, the breakup scene I feel that I did with Rob, that's not where it happens yet. That's not what I was intimidated by. That was still, like she doesn't even believe it yet. It's when he goes, the absence of him that I was scared of. I was like, 'How am I going to by myself in the woods with a hundred guys standing around me, filming me, die?' Basically, literally having the equivalent of like a death scene but stay alive and get up and keep walking. It was hard. It was really intimidating. I still don't know if. I've seen the movie. I really like the movie but I don’t know if anyone ever really would've been able to bring that to life the way that Stephenie [Meyer] writes it. I had a really good time on this movie. It was really intense. Just because of the nature of the story, it goes in a completely different direction.” Read Article

Twilight Producer Wyck Godfrey breaks down a key scene from "Twilight: New Moon" exclusively for MakingOf

Monday, November 23, 2009 11:00 AM | From Making Of

In his latest interview with MakingOf, Producer Wyck Godfrey walks fans through how lead actress Kristen Stewart shot the scene where she jumps off a cliff into a wave-filled, freezing body of water. Godfrey notes that they shot this portion of the blockbuster against a green screen because there were no appropriate cliffs available on location in Canada. He also details that Stewart not only silenced her fear of water when jumping into a tank filled with waves and divers but also filmed this scene while she was sick.

"The Twilight Saga: New Moon" posted the third-largest opening in domestic box-office history this weekend with over $140 million worth of ticket sales domestically. This opening more than doubled the first weekend receipts of last year's "Twilight".

Pic has been torn to pieces by critics but, like "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen," critic opinions meant little as the film averaged $34,965 per venue, thanks to fans swarming in to see their favorite vamp or werewolf characters.

The adaptation of the second Stephenie Meyer novel starring Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner has already posted over $118 million overseas. Film earned the third biggest opening weekend ever behind "The Dark Knight" and "Spider-Man 3." In fact, the film would have grossed even more had it not been for the very solid opening of Warner Bros. Pictures' Sandra Bullock starrer "The Blind Side." Drama manage to churn out $34.5 million from 3,110 venues, averaging $11,096 per theatre.

Sony Pictures' "2012" showed a $59.4% change in its sophomore weekend at play with $26.5 million in third position. Roland Emmerich's over-the-top epic adventure budgeted at around $200 million, has accumulated over $108.2 million in the U.S. and around $160 million overseas.

REVIEW: New Moon

Sunday, November 22, 2009 11:12 AM | From HorrorMovies.ca

It’s time to talk about ever horror fans favorite vampire series(yeah right) The Twilight Saga. Ever since I read the first book in the series I have loved the Twilight Saga. Shortly after I read the saga the first movie was released and I loved the movie along with millions of other fans. So naturally I was excited about seeing New Moon, the second story in the Twilight Saga. And after watching the movie, I’m not at all disappointed. New Moon is the best mainstream movie of 2009 in my opinion. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen Mainstream movie that was as entertaining as New Moon.

Plot: Following Bella’s ill-fated 18th birthday party, Edward Cullen(Robert Pattinson) and his family abandon the town of Forks, Washington, in an effort to protect her from the dangers that inherent in their world. This leaves Bella heartbroken and numb. Until she befriends Jacob Black(Taylor Lautner) who is a member of the mysterious Quileute tribe, who have a supernatural secret of their own.

The first thing I noticed about New Moon was the cinematography. It was very good and I could tell right away that New Moon was shot better than Twilight. The cinematography wasn’t the only thing better about New Moon. I also thought the script was much better. The script is well written and almost all of the dialogue was intelligent, and I can’t say that about many movies these days. There was also some good humor thrown in every now and then. The acting was also better in New Moon. All of the cast members did a great job but Robert Pattinson did the best. He’s not in most of the movie, but he does great for the short while he’s in the movie. He said his lines with perfection and I don’t think anyone could have done better. I was also impressed by Taylor Lautner(Jacob) He also did a fantastic job. A lot of things were great about New Moon, but the entertainment factor is what really made it a good movie. It has a running time of over two hours and I never got bored. My eyes were constantly glued to the screen and I was disappointed when it ended. That’s the mark of a great movie. And last but not least, I have to mention the music. The music was fantastic and most importantly it fit into the movie.

I had a blast watching New Moon but it has it’s flaws. The first thing that bothered me was Kristen Stewart’s acting. I realize her character is suppose to be depressed, but at times she seemed emotionless and very wooden. The next thing I didn’t like was some of the CGI effects. For the most part the CGI looked pretty good, but it still CGI and I can’t like it no matter how good it looks. The only other thing I didn’t like was some of the cheesiness. I like cheesy movies just as much as anyone else, but some parts of New Moon felt a little to cheesy for a movie that is suppose to be serious.

Overall I loved New Moon. After thinking about it for a little while I have to say I enjoyed New Moon more than Twilight. I think the reason New Moon was better was because of Chris Weitz. In my opinion he’s a much better director than Catherine Hardwicke.

If you’re a fan of the movie Twilight or if you like the books I highly recommend you go see New Moon. Even if people aren’t a fan of the books I think they could still enjoy the movie if they would just give it a chance.
