South Park Rips on Avatar

Friday, November 13, 2009 4:12 PM | From Screen Rant
By now I would hope most of you have seen the latest episode of South Park, entitled “Dances With Smurfs” (if not, you need to go HERE right away and do so!). The episode follows in the show’s great tradition of intelligent inappropriateness, this time lampooning such things as school shootings (really pushing it there), [...] Read Article

South Park Calls Avatar Dances with Smurfs

Warning: This entire article talks about an episode of South Park and gives away a few jokes. But by no means does it really ruin the episode. Spoilers, but not very big ones.

Last night’s episode of South Park really struck a chord with me as a movie geek. The plot of the episode involved taking on talk radio with Eric Cartman becoming a Rush Limbaugh/Bill O’Reilly type of character. Cartman trashed the school president Wendy saying she didn’t do enough and then the entire episode shifted to nerd culture when Cartman brought up how Wendy wants to kill Smurfs.

Cartman made…

David Koepp to Direct Bike Messenger Action Film Premium Rush

Thursday, November 12, 2009 4:28 AM | From /Film
David Koepp is best known as one of Hollywood's highest paid screenwriters (and one of Spielberg's scribes). His screenwriting credits include everything from Toy Soldiers, Jurassic Park, and Carlito's Way, to Panic Room, Spider-Man, War of the Worlds and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. For the last decade he's been trying to make the transition into feature film directing. He made his debut with the promising Stir of Echoes, but has since followed up with some lackluster efforts, the 2004 Stephen King adaptation Secret Window and the 2008 Ricky Gervais supernatural romantic comedy Ghost Town. Honestly, I think Koepp is a much better screenwriter than he is a filmmaker, and that's not saying much considering the abundance of lackluster screenplays he's been involved with in the last 10-12 years. With that kind of intro, you must be really interested in his next directorial effort (yes, that was ... Read Article

Joe Johnston Thinks We Still Might One Day See Jurassic Park 4

Sunday, November 8, 2009 2:16 PM | From FirstShowing.net
Even though we've heard time and time again that it's going to never happen, director Joe Johnston still believes we will one day see Jurassic Park 4. Back in June, producer Frank Marshall said that another Jurassic Park was a "long shot" and that they "don't have a story." Not according to Johnston. Ain't It Cool News spoke with the director recently and heard otherwise. "Well, there is a great story for the fourth one that I would be interested in getting involved with and its nothing like the first three. It sort of takes the franchise off in a completely different direction, which is the only way I would want to get involved." Johnston continues: "Why would anybody go back to that island? It was hard enough to figure out the second and third reason for them to go, but it would take it off in a whole other trilogy ... Read Article
