Recently, I reviewed Waterworld. Now I’m talking about 1998’s disaster opus Godzilla. These are two of the biggest flops of the 1990’s. Overhyped and overproduced, and expensive as all get out, perhaps they’re hitting Blu-ray in the hopes of eeking out profits. Someone thought they might have had something here, but when Roland Emmerich and [...]
Today's t-shirt of the day on Teefury is Taz's Godzilla vs. Gamera red t-shirt design. The designer explains that he had previously created an Ultraman vs Godzilla illustration and "was still on a Godzilla kick and I also really wanted to do a drawing of Gamera so as Emeril Lagasse likes to say BAM...Godzilla vs Gamera." Raz continues:
"Two giants locked in an epic battle, our cities forming the arena for their massive fight. It should be horrifying, but somehow you can't help but be impressed by their sheer strength and power. Monsters rule!"
Initially intended as a skateboard deck design, the art was readjusted a bit to better fit the tshirt format. Available for the next 24 hours only, for only $9 plus shipping. See the full design after the jump.

Legendary Pictures is rumored to be working on a new Godzilla film. This would be the first North American attempt to bring back the king of the monsters to the screen since 1998. I loved the original "man-in-suit" concept and hope it's kept in the new film. At one point many people were convinced Cloverfield was going to be a new Godzilla flick.
When you're a kid, you love creatures like dinosaurs, lizards, bugs, etc. When you're a twisted kid, you love creatures like Medusa, Godzilla, the Kraken, and that disgusting creature from The Host. While that last one is a bit too recent for my...
Well there's not much to report on this story as of yet, but according to a hot tip from Bloody Disgusting [1], it looks like there is a new Godzilla movie in the works -- a new big budget Hollywood version, that is. Apparently the folks at Legendary Pictures are in talks to pick up the rights, the production company behind such recent films as The Dark Knight, Watchmen, 300 and Where the Wild Things Are. Oh, plus Roland Emmerich's 10,000 B.C.... let's just hope he's not going to be allowed anywhere near it.
The last official Godzilla movie in Japan, as far as I know, was Ryuhei Kitamura's Godzilla: Final Wars. The film series had supposedly been put on hiatus after that, although it was rumoured that Toho may bring back the giant monster for his 60th anniversary in 2014. Either way, like everything else these days this project is being described as a "reboot", so I think it's safe to assume it will not be a sequel to Roland Emmerich's widely panned 1998 film. Would you like to see a new big budget Godzilla flick? Who do you think should direct it?

You all remember the great GODZILLA mistake of 1998? Everyone was excited to see the legendary creature on the big screen with the use of modern technologies. But what happened? I don't have to tell you, you already know.
Well apparently Legendary Pictures wants to make it right. Currently things are just in the discussion stage with no other details. There's a lot of potential with a project like this, and obviously...

Will Hollywood Do Right by Godzilla This Time?
Thursday, August 13, 2009 5:00 PM | From Dread Central
This could be major news or it could be no news at all. Bloody-Disgusting is reporting that Legendary Pictures, the production company responsible in part for The Dark Knight and the upcoming remake of Clash of the Titans, may be looking to bring Godzilla back to the big screen and hopefully get it right this time.
There are no further details to this story aside from Bloody-Disgusting stating they've learned that Legendary Pictures are in "early discussions" to potentially make a brand new big budget Hollywood Godzilla flick that would have no ties to the 1998 Roland Emmerich cinematic abortion. Whether or not anything will come of this in the future or it goes the way of that 3D Godzilla Imax movie we've been hearing about supposedly happening for years now remains to be seen.
In the meantime, enjoy this quite entertaining rap video as a helpful reminder as to why Godzilla remains such an iconic figure even after half a century.
