Until The Light Takes Us Trailer: A Documentary about Norwegian Black Metal
With the recent success of such docs as Metal: A Headbangers Journey, Heavy Metal in Baghdad and Anvil! The Story of Anvil, it seems that heavy metal is a pretty popular topic in the world of non-fiction right now. In Sam Dunns Metal: A Headbangers Journey, one of the most fascinating (and creepy) segments was the stuff involving the Norwegian Black Metal bands, who were also featured in a short doc that was included on the DVD release of the film. Well, if you wanted to know more about this disturbing and violent subculture of musicians who supposedly burn churches and commit murder in the name of their music, you probably should check out Aaron Aites and Audrey Ewells feature-length film Until The Light Takes Us.
The filmmakers supposedly moved to Norway and lived with the various band members for several years in order to gain their trust and try to make sense of it all. Although Im not very familiar with most of these names, key interview subjects include Gylve Fenris Nagell of Darkthrone and convicted murderer Varg Vikernes of Mayhem. Regardless of whether you're a fan of the music (which Im not), this looks looks like some pretty compelling and scary stuff indeed. Until The Light Takes Us hits select theatres on Nov. 20th. For an updated list of theatres and screenings, stay tuned to the official website [1]. A new trailer for the film just recently debuted on Apple [2]; I've also embedded it after the jump.

Mastodon Explains How Exactly They Came to Score Jonah Hex
Do you remember the news that heavy metal band Mastodon would be scoring the Jonah Hex movie? Yea, I'm still a bit bewildered by that, but it's being cleared up today, finally. Paste (via SlashFilm) just did an interview with Mastodon recently and got the full story, including that they're not dropping any all-out heavy metal tracks into the movie, but rather recording instrumental songs that will be integrated into the score, similar to how Linkin Park worked with Steve Jablonsky for the Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen score. It's actually kind of fascinating to hear and I'm much more excited to hear their score knowing this.
The story is that Jonah Hex director Jimmy Hayward called up Mastodon saying he is a huge fan and that it was their album Blood Mountain that inspired him while writing the script. The band came to LA following their European tour and recorded ...

Fake HEAVY METAL Poster Truly Looks Awesome
Wednesday, October 21, 2009 6:00 PM | From Collider
The remake of “Heavy Metal” could be anywhere in pre-production. Is it still gathering directors for segments? Is it trying to find metal artists? Will each segment have its own screenwriter? So a poster at this point is highly unlikely. It’s even more unlikely when a poster for the film lands online and has a [...]
Who’s in the mood for some celebrity slaughter? With the buzz on full-throttle over Robert Rodriguez’s PREDATORS film, being directed by Nimrod Antal, the cast is already taking shape in the form of significant Hollywood names. Adrien Brody (THE JACKET) has signed on to play the man who ends up taking the leader role amidst the band of dangerous humans that get swooped up and transplanted onto the Predator jungle home planet. The humans from various countries and backgrounds must fight to survive as one seriously badass super predator hunts them down for sport.
Well I was willing to give Community another chance and I will say Im seeing a few glimmers of hope, but sadly I have to say theres a huge gaping hole where a really good show should be. First off, theyre still not doing anything with their secondary characters and the little they are doing just didnt work at all in this episode. The Indian guy and the still wearing a lettermans jacket African American guy were used for one Spanish dialogue bit that was decently funny, but then they were barely seen in the episode otherwise. And as for the…
