Sanctuary: Ashley Is Dead
Sunday, November 15, 2009 10:52 AM | From Screen Rant
After watching the first few episodes of the 2nd season of Sanctuary, we all started to wonder if Ashley was dead, as in “dead dead”, or dead as in, “for dramatic ratings and she’ll be back dead.”
Yet the clues were obvious – even before our confirmation.
Though they drew out Ashley’s (Emilie Ullerup) death out for [...]
Milla Jovovich is currently working on "Resident Evil 4: Afterlife" in Toronto, but still found time to update her Twitter account with some news about when fans can see the trailer for the new film.
A brand new promo trailer for the upcoming horror/comedy "Tucker and Dale vs Evil," which is in the vain of "Shaun of the Dead" and "Zombieland," has appeared online. Check it out below, but be warned, it pretty much gives away the entire movie.
Evil Dead Back In Theaters In 2010
Saturday, November 7, 2009 10:32 PM | From Latino Review
28 years after it was first made, Sam Rami's camp classic "Evil Dead" will hit screens again sometime in 2010. The film's creators and Grindhouse Pictures will offer midnight showings at select Landmark theaters in the U.S.The always unconventional Bruce Campbell [the movie's cult star] has this to say about the release: Nothing can prepare an audience for what they are about to see, because nothing punishes an audience like Evil Dead especially on the big screen. Im really glad its back. People are gonna be hurt.Seems like it'd be a fun midnight showing to go to. I always say that I'm gonna go to these special re-release things but I never do. I'm a bad movie nerd. Oh, and thankfully, no mention of the potential remake these guys were planning. CRAP, I've reminded them! Punch me in the face. http://www.pastemagazine.com/articles/2009/11/evil-dead-to-rise-again-in-2010.htmlSource: Paste
Let me just put your mind to ease right now. No, this is not yet another tedious bit of rumor news about an EVIL DEAD remake. Regardless of which side of the debate you are on regarding that hot little number, this is something any self-respecting fan of the EVIL DEAD trilogy will, and should, be very happy about.
Now 28 years after the original release of director Sam Raimi’s breakout film, the little horror film that could is scheduled to make a nostalgic return to big screen’s across the country. The movie that put both Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell…
New Despicable Me Trailer And Images: Pure Evil, Dr. Evil
Wednesday, November 4, 2009 10:56 PM | From Cinema Blend
In the past few years, we've had 'Rolling Roadshows' for a few films like 'Repo!' or 'Trick 'r Treat', but never for an older film. Anything that isn't recent has been shown as a Fathom event to varying results (most notably the full-frame DVD showing of 'Poltergeist' and the wonderful Rifftrax version of 'Plan 9 From Outer Space'). Grindhouse Releasing just sent word that they've secured the right to show 35mm prints of The Evil Dead across the country, with venues and dates to come soon. If this takes off, hopefully this will make way for other classics to be brought back to the big screen on a circuit level. Read on to see the press release.
Of course with the AFM almost upon us tons of new films will begin to surface most of which will probably either end up on the SyFy Channel or be back again next year. However their is always a gem hidden amongst them and this year one of them is definitely director Eli Craig's Tucker & Dale VS Evil. Check out the synopsis below along with a really bad ass trailer below courtesy of Voltage Pictures:
In the vein of Shaun of the Dead, Tucker & Dale is a wild, wonky tale of two hillbilly buddies trying to survive their vacation in the woods when they are mistaken for killers by a gang of college kids. Our heroes valiantly save one of the college girls from drowning but are accused of wrongdoing. The chase ensues, not treating the students too well, leaving us with a gory but hilarious tale of two hillbillies and their hearts of gold.
Wouldn't it be cool if, instead of producing so many remakes, more Hollywood studios would simply consider re-releasing classic films for limited theatrical runs? I suppose they might not stand to make as much money from a re-release of a movie that doesn't have any of today's hot young stars in it, but on the other hand, it wouldn't cost them that much money either. We've seen a few examples of this over the past few years (The Wizard of Oz [1] and A Nightmare on Elm Street [2], for example), but most of the time it's only for one or two nights.
Well, now here's some cool news about a company that's trying to revive the concept of midnight movies with the help of Sam Raimi's very first flick The Evil Dead. According to a press release from Grindhouse Releasing [3], they will be bringing The Evil Dead back to the big screen with "midnight screenings in select theaters across the U.S. and Canada". No word on how many cities this may involve (I'm guessing just a handful of specialty theatres), but I think there would be some level of interest in it just about everywhere. I wonder if the success of this will have any bearing on the future of the long rumoured Evil Dead remake? Dates and venues will be announced at GrindhouseReleasing.com [4]. Is this something you'd pay to see on the big screen?
