Colin Hanks is set to star in Fox's thirteen-episode series "Jack and Dan" created by Matt Nix.
This also stars Bradley Whitford and is produced by Fox TV Studios.
Story focuses on Jack (Hanks), an ambitious, by-the-book detective who undermines himself with the result of winding up in a dead-end job at the Los Angeles Police Department. On top of that, he's been partnered with Dan (played by Whitford) who is a wild-card cop as well as a drunk. The only thing keeping Dan in the job is a heroic act years ago.
Filming on the action comedy is slated to begin early next year.
Hanks recently did an arc on AMC's "Mad Men" and was also in the recent successful comedy "The House Bunny" as well as the Diane Lane thriller "Untraceable" and "The Great Buck Howard" with John Malkovich.
Colin Hanks, Jeffrey Tambor, Ann-Margret and Ari Graynor have all signed on to the indie comedy Lucky.
It sounds like a twisted little tale, following a man whose lifelong ambition is to be a serial killer and how winning the lottery changes his life, if not his murderous intent.

Oh, and he's also pursuing the woman of his dreams, though we think that's romantically, not in the sense that he wants to kill her.
Gill Cates Jr is preparing to call the shots starting next week in Iowa.

If you haven't already, we suggest you check out the trailer for Magnolia Pictures' "The Great Buck Howard" comedy drama starring John Malkovich, Colin Hanks, Emily Blunt, Adam Scott, Matthew Gray Gubler, George Takei and Griffin Dunne.
The film is helmed and written by Sean McGinly ("Two Days," "Brothers") and opens on March 20th next year.
See the trailer in Quicktime here.
To the untrained eye, THE GREAT BUCK HOWARD (John Malkovich) may seem like a magician but he's not. He's a mentalist. In his own humble opinion, his talents go far beyond mere sleight of hand; he can read minds, and is capable of hypnotizing an entire room full of people at once. But when TROY GABLE (Colin Hanks) tries to explain to his DAD (Tom Hanks) why he dropped out of law school to work for a mentalist, it doesn't go over very well. In fact, it doesn't go over at all.
n his heyday, Buck had a marquis act in Vegas, counted Ed McMahon among his close personal friends, and was a guest on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson sixty-one times. But now it's obvious to everyone including Troy that Buck's act has lost whatever lustre it once had; he plays Spokane a lot more than he plays Vegas, and hasn't filled a theater in years. In spite of all the evidence against him, Buck is convinced his big comeback is right around the corner. And, for reasons he can't quite explain, Troy decides to stick around and find out. Thus begins a clever comedy about a confused young man and the unlikeliest of teachers. Much to his father's chagrin, Troy's about to learn a few tricks he couldn't have picked up in law school.
