There are two action stars who are probably immortal. One is now the Governor of Caliornia and he doesn't like "economic girly-men" while the other is still very much an action star. His name is Sylvester Stallone. With his next venture The Expendables not too far off (set for release next August) and yet another sequel in the Rambo series on the horizon as well, Stallone isn't showing any signs of slowing down. He recently took the time to talk to Empire about the possibility of his involvement in a remake of the 1970's exploitation film Death Wish, potentially a sequel to Cliffhanger, and the status of the biopic about poet Edgar Allen Poe.
First on the possible remake of the Charles Bronson action-crime-drama Death Wish, Stallone said:
"I'm thinking about it. It's a classic morality tale, where you take a civilized man and take away everything that matters to him so he ...
For the record can I just say, holy crap! Now, that I've moved on from the initial shock I can tell you that we have a CLIFFHANGER 2 coming.
Now back in May it was announced that CLIFFHANGER was getting the good ol' reboot. Now let's travel backwards, in 1993 I was 9, Janine Turner was grade A top choice meat, and Sylvester Stallone was still completely capable of making a box office hit. As we travel...

Let’s see the possibilities here. A UFO crash-lands on a mountain, and killer slugs turn a snowboarding crew into zombies. It’s up to Gabe Walk to climb up the mountain and take out the zombies one-by-one. Or, Dracula, Frankenstein, the Wolfman (got nards), and Gillman build their new fortified castle up on Gabe’s mountain, and it’s up to the Ranger Walker to stake, shoot, destroy, and wipe out the monsters once and for all.
Those are just some of the possibilities Fred Dekker could come up with for ‘Cliffhanger 2,’ as, evidently, the screenwriter/director is working on the project.
Our buddy, Alex,…
Monster Squads Fred Dekker Writing Cliffhanger Reboot/Sequel?
Back in May, StudioCanal announced that they would be teaming with Neal Moritz's Original Films to reboot Cliffhanger. At the time, not much was known about the project aside from the fact that it would be big budget and would center on a group of young climbers on "multiple cliff-face locations." At the time, Moritz said that they were searching for a screenwriter, and hoping to begin production in 2010.
Our friends at FirstShowing might have come across a scoop regarding the film's scribe. While attending a Santa Monica screening of The Monster Squad, director Frank Dekker revealed that he is "currently writing Cliffhanger 2." It is interesting that he referred to the project as "Cliffhanger 2" and not a remake or reboot of Cliffhanger. Is it possible that the story has Sylvester Stallone set to return as Gabe Walker? Or are we reading too much into a quick comment. Probably ...
FirstShowing attended a screening of the 1987 film "Monster Squad" at the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica, where after the movie, a Q&A session was held with director Fred Dekker and writer Shane Black. When Dekker was asked what he's currently working on, he replied by saying: "I'm currently writing Cliffhanger 2."
A few days ago, a rumor was passed around that the upcoming "Star Trek" sequel will have a cliffhanger that will lead into the third film. io9 now caught up with writer Roberto Orci and asked him whether there is any truth to that.
Worth Watching - May 24: French Cliffhanger-ish Vertige Trailer
Forget that Cliffhanger remake, just watch this instead! Here's the pitch for Vertige: A group of friends on vacation decide to venture onto a trail high up in the mountains that has been closed for repairs. The climb proves more perilous than planned, especially as they soon realize that they are not alone. The adventure turns into a nightmare. It's a modernized, French version of Cliffhanger, with some impressive camera work, but unimpressive characters. The trailer was discovered by ShockTillYouDrop and it looks like it could be fun. But are they being sabotaged or does their climbing gear just suck? Check out the trailer below.

Chris Hemsworth is a Wolverine in Red Dawn Remake
Wednesday, May 20, 2009 3:49 PM | From Screen Rant
The reboot rumors and news have been flowing out of Hollywood recently faster than people leaving the Florida Keys before a hurricane. Some Im not too keen on: Cliffhanger, Hellraiser, and Nightmare on Elm Street; others Im looking forward to: Red Dawn, Fantastic Four, and Predator.
One particular reboot, Red Dawn, is now that much closer [...]
Thanks to Cinemafantastique, we now have the trailer for the French action flick "Vertige" (Dizziness). Even though it's not in English, the action and suspense is enough to understand what this film is about. And just when you think it's a copy of "Cliffhanger," it takes a strange turn into slasher territory.
Screen Rant fans rejoice because Hollywood is proving once again that its finger is on the pulse of entertainment. They have apparently entered the Throw It Against the Wall and See if it Sticks phase.
Nothing proves this point better than the recent announcement for a remake reboot of the Renny Harlin/ Slyvester Stallone action film [...]
