What if The Matrix was made in 1905 as a silent comedy starring Charlie Chaplin? It would probably look something like this 7-minute Russian television skit, embedded after the jump.

Will Smith Interested in Picking Up Some Flowers for Algernon?
We've seen Will Smith fight aggressive aliens, infectious bloodthirsty humans, and self-righteous robots, but when all is said and done, it's really awe inspiring to see him put away the guns and "Aw, hell no!" attitude when he buckles down for a serious drama. So it pleases me to see that Pajiba has a scoop about Will Smith taking on the lead role (as well as producing) a contemporary adaptation of the Daniel Keyes' short story and subsequent novel Flowers for Algernon, the story of Charlie, a mentally retarded man, who is the first human test subject for an experimental surgery that artificially increases intelligence.
After a successful experiment on the titular lab mouse Algernon, the surgery is then applied to Charlie, raising his IQ from 68 to 185. But his newfound intelligence comes at the cost of his ability to socialize normally as he becomes alienated from those who are ...

The Weinstein Company has pushed back Youth in Revolt, which recently premiered at TIFF to decent reviews, from October 30 to January 15, 2010. The comedy-drama was first announced in 2007 and has already been delayed twice.
Michael Cera, Portia Doubleday, Zach Galifianakis, Justin Long, Ari Graynor, Ray Liotta, Jean Smart, Rooney Mara and Steve Buscemi star in the film. It was directed by Miguel Arteta (The Good Girl, Chuck & Buck).
Based on the bestselling novel of the same name by C.D. Payne, the film revolves around the adventures of a teenager who meets the girl of his dreams while on a family vacation and turns his life upside down in order to be with her. Gustin Nash (Charlie Bartlett) penned the screenplay.
The consensus seems to be that the Weinsteins will use the fall to focus on more Oscar-friendly films like Rob Marshalls Nine, A Single Man and The Road.

He is the highest paid actor on TV, earning $860,000 per episode and working and traveling much less than he would have to do for a feature film.
QT on Charlie Rose
Tuesday, August 25, 2009 11:49 PM | From Joblo.Com
Quentin Tarantino has been making the rounds promoting his now-unleashed WWII opus INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS, but is generally only granted a few minutes of talk time at most opportunities. And while the effusive filmmaker can cram a lot of chatter into a brief period, he recently sat down (but not still) for nearly an hour with veteran interviewer Charlie Rose to discuss all things Basterdly.
