Changeling Scribe To Adapt Video Game For Bruckheimer

Tuesday, October 27, 2009 10:49 AM | From Latino Review
Super producer Jerry Bruckheimer has hired the writer of Eastwood's "Changeling," J. Michael Straczynski, to scribe a film adaptation of a video game called "Shattered Union."Now, I'm not a gamer, so I've never heard of this title before, but the synopsis sounds pretty cool: "In the game, states secede from the U.S. and form their own governments that wage a civil war against each other after Washington, D.C., is wiped out in a nuclear blast and chaos ravages the nation. Players control one of the warring group of states -- the California Commonwealth, Republic of Texas and New England Alliance are three of the six -- or a European peacekeeping unit sent to reunify America."Now, check out what else Straczynski's got cooking. He wrote the upcoming "Ninja Assassin," is working on a "Silver Surfer" and a "Forbidden Planet" reboot, AND he adapted the cult zombie novel "World War Z." Oh, AND he's got a Vietnam drama called "They Marched Into Sunlight" in pre-production, with Paul Greengrass set to direct.Source: The Trades Read Article

Get Exchanged With Matthew McConaughey

Friday, April 17, 2009 9:28 AM | From Cinema Blend
Say what you will about Matthew McConaughey and what he's done with his career, but at least he's using his rom-com-earned wealth to promote up-and-comers. His J.K. Livin production company is starting work on Exchange Student, and to write it they've picked newbie Mike Vukadinovich, who will be writing his first screenplay. The story sounds straight-up baffling as The Hollywood Reporter describes it. It's about two exchange students who exchange themselves in opposite directions, one of them coming to ... Read Article

McConaughey Developing Exchange Student

Friday, April 17, 2009 12:35 AM | From The Moving Picture
Matthew McConaugheys J.K. Livin production banner is developing Exchange Student, a comedy about two college freshmen going in opposite directions -- literally -- and has signed up-and-coming writer Mike Vukadinovich to pen the script, report the trades. The story revolves around two exchange students, one who ships out from the U.S. and one who comes in, who experience new environments in very different ways: One has the time of his life, the other goes off the rails. McConaughey came up with the story and will produce and potentially star in one of the non-lead roles. J.K. Livin's Mark and Gus Gustawes will serve as producers. The project is being described as a family comedy with ironic overtones a la Wes Anderson. Vukadinovich is a playwright and former employee in the development department at HBO. He came to the attention of Hollywood reps with a satiric political play about a teen who runs for school office by mirroring the tactics and policies of George W. Bush. In addition to Exchange, Vukadinovich and J.K. Livin are developing Jonah and the Whale, a dysfunctional-family dramedy that the writer penned as a spec. J.K. Livin has sold the script to Starz, which is developing the project as a potential series. Read Article

CHANGELING DVD Review -- Jackson says sometimes truth is stranger than fiction

Friday, February 27, 2009 3:28 PM | From Collider
Living in the City of Angels now (but having grown up in relatively ancient New England), its hard to imagine how certain über-populated areas were little more than fields a mere fifty years ago. That massive burst of development that transformed LA from a small coastal city to the second largest metropolitan area in America has led to a decidedly unique criminal history, frequently exhibiting a Wild West frontier attitude in both the underworld and law enforcement. Not surprisingly, that centerpiece of Los Angeles, Hollywood has frequently explored just those criminal stories. Some attempts, like The Black Dahlia, fall flat on their face by not focusing enough on the actual crime and by expounding so much on the backstory that the facts are eventually lost. But those that work, like Clint Eastwoods 2008 Changeling, do so by ... Read Article

Blu-ray Review: Changeling

Monday, February 16, 2009 12:28 AM | From RopeofSilicon
You would think getting a chance to watch the Oscar-nominated performance from Angelina Jolie in Clint Eastwood’s Changeling would be a welcome proposal, but at two hours and 20 minutes this film is a tough one to relive, but I will admit Universal’s Blu-ray U Control feature made it a bit easier to handle the [...] Read Article
