Taylor Swift made history as the youngest winner ever of the Country Music Association's Entertainer of the Year, but the night was full of music superstars including Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, Tim McGraw, Brad Paisley, Kenny Chesney, Sugarland, Dave Matthews and many more.
Carrie Underwood caps Billboard 200 for a second time
Wednesday, November 11, 2009 3:24 PM | From HitFix
Surprising nobody, Carrie Underwood's new album "Play On" bows at the top of The Billboard 200 albums chart, displacing Michael Jackson's "This Is It" to No. 2. The "American Idol" winner scored her first No. 1 in 2007 with "Carnival Ride." That set did a lot better, numbers-wise, than "Play On," 527,000 versus 318,000. Still, the initial sales sum is the biggest number from a female act in 2009. Your mom's favorite Christmas album this year, Andrea Boccelli's "My Christmas," starts at No. 3 with 149,000 copies. Part one of the two-part soundtrack from the first season of TV show "Glee"...
Carrie Prejean May Be A Crappy Miss USA Contestant, But She Scores In The Sex Tape Department
It only took half a year for this hot mess to have some kind of racy rumor following her behind. Looks like Carrie Prejean isn't just skilled in the pageantry department, but it looks like she's got all of the right moves in the bedroom...on camera...
Does Carrie Underwood knock Michael Jackson off the chart mountaintop?
Country queen Carrie Underwood is set to knock the King of Pop off his throne next week as the “American Idol” winner’s new set, “Play On,” is on target to sell up to 340,000 copies in its debut week. That’s more than twice as much as Michael Jackson’s “This is It” looks like it will move, according to Hits Daily Double, which puts the companion CD to the film at around 170,000 copies. There are plenty of other debuts to crow about: Gleeks are snapping up the soundtrack to “Glee,” which will come in at No. 3 with sales of 125,000...
FOX has set aside a block of primetime December programming for a two-hour holiday special starring Carrie Underwood. The fittingly titled "Carrie Underwood: An All-Star Holiday Special" will air on Monday, Dec. 7. In the special, Underwood will perform music from her upcoming album, as well as her earlier hits and some holiday favorites. And if you want guest stars, she'll have guest stars, just don't ask for a big list. Thus far, the only stars set to join Underwood include fellow "American Idol" winner David Cook, plus country favorites Dolly Parton and Brad Paisley, but FOX promises there...
Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Brad Paisley set to appear on CMA Awards
Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley will pull double duty at the 43rd annual Country Music Assn. Awards, serving not only as co-hosts, but as performers. They'll be joined by fellow artists Brooks and Dunn, Kenny Chesney, Reba McEntire, Darius Rucker, George Strait, Sugarland, Taylor Swift and Keith Urban in a performance-packed show. It may be the last time to see some of your favorites on TV for awhile: Brooks & Dunn are pulling the plug on their tremendously successful partnership after their next tour, while Chesney is taking a year or so off the road for a little down time....
Shelf Life: Carrie
Thursday, September 17, 2009 9:42 AM | From Cinematical
In the previous two installments of "Shelf Life," we took a look at a couple of prominent Oscar winners that have been both canonized and churned up by the annals of history. Interestingly, both of them held up a lot better than we originally expected, primarily because of our own hazy memories of Titanic and American Beauty, but also because of the wealth of films their successes inspired in terms of characters, stories, styles and even spectacles. As such it seemed appropriate to go back and check out a movie that in no small way served as the foundation for literally countless imitators and rip-offs, potentially one of which, Jennifer's Body, opens this week. The film we're referring to, of course, is Brian De Palma's Carrie, and we recently rewatched this venerated horror classic to see if it's still as worthy of its classic status as it was when everyone and their insane, God-fearing mother decided to do their version of it.
Carrie Bradshaw Already Looks a Little Motherly For SATC 2
Saturday, September 5, 2009 1:15 AM | From POPSUGAR
Sarah Jessica Parker and Cynthia Nixon strolled the West Village of NYC running lines as Carrie and Miranda today. Miranda's onscreen son, Brady, shared a cute moment with SJP, but it's Carrie's motherly instincts that are the source of rumors that Sex and the City 2 will mean baby fever for our heroine. The cast has only been shooting for a few days, but the wardrobe already has us excited - Fab has the scoop on Carrie's hot gold aviators while CelebStyle is breaking down all the looks! If the sequel does involve a new addition for Carrie and Big, SJP will be able to bring a bit of her own experience to the role, especially with her new baby twins making one of our biggest headlines of the Summer.
